I love credit cards so much!

You guys are making me nostalgic for the reading-chapter-books-to/with-my kids days :lovestruc We started reading Harry Potter aloud when the second book was published in the US! We did The Hobbit, all the Little House books, and so many standalone titles.

Special times, huh!? I used Sonlight curriculum (maybe you have heard of it??) with my girls so I read aloud all day, every day....some of the most wonderful books that most have never heard of...and of course, all the Newberry titles, as Sonlight loves Newberry winners. Now I am too busy to do Sonlight with my boys but I try to keep a read aloud going.

So are pre-existing accounts grandfathered? Just checked DHs CIP, and our Chase checking and CapOne savings are still linked.

Yeah, if you've linked a Chase personal account to pay an Ink card before, it's still linked and works just fine. But starting about a month ago, DPs say you can't do this anymore and Chase reps have confirmed this. I get an error when trying to link the same [Chase] personal account that we use to pay our other Ink cards to DW's new CIU. DW's first CIU payment is due in a few weeks, so I've either got to call in our payment or figure out the bill pay feature because we don't have any checks!

Is her new Card on the same login? So even though other cards on the login are linked, that one can’t be? Crazy. Sadly I still have a few bills which require checks, my car payment most notably.

makes me wonder if u can do Personal checking --> Business checking --> ink card

I decided to look up P2’s info on Card match and got the 100,000 bonus offer for amex plat. Should I apply for him? I’m looking to diversify our points and get something that will earn other than UR’s. Planning a trip to Europe June 2020. Also have a college age son wanting a trip to Peru. In-laws are out west and we’re in Ohio and due for a visit. P2 is 3/24 now, last personal card was the IHG Premier mid August, so it’s only been a bit over 2 months. We can handle the MSR, getting driveway redone shortly. I just got the CSR early October and haven’t finished the spend on that yet, but I don’t see that being an issue. Don’t want to apply on a whim, but don’t want to lose the chance at 100,000 mr either.

Is it normal to have charges post to your Chase account and show 0 points? I have 3 since 10/16 on my CSR that I was expecting to code as travel with no points value.

Maybe I am just being paranoid about the Double Dip lol

I had to call in the CIC payment the first couple of times. I think I was one of the first who had this problem not being able to link a personal Chase with an Ink, even though it was already linked to another Ink in the same profile. My dh was on the phone with Chase for like 90 mins while they transferred him all over the place to different dept's and no one had a clue why it wouldn't work. So, we just made phone payments. But then low and behold, I tried to link it again a month ago, and it worked!! So, whether it is a glitch that got it working or what...it linked up and then auto-paid three days ago :)

Have you used the travel credit yet? If those charges are being reimbursed via the travel credit you won’t earn points on them.

I'm going to let one of the Amex experts give you the advice you should take lol...but I jumped on the 100k offer when I got it and I do not regret it at all. I was ready to diversify and while I had already gotten a couple of MR cards, the 100k offer was something I didn't want to miss. I've actually really liked this card a lot more than I thought I would. I went from 4/24 to 5/24 getting it but I'll fall below 5/24 in the next couple of months. Nothing from Chase I'm after right now anyways. My dh will go for SW cards for CP but he is 1/24 so he's good there.

We use Sonlight!

All I’m going to say right now is if you’re even thinking about diversifying into Amex MRs, you should jump on this offer and apply. You may not get another chance. I pulled the 100k MR Platinum offer for my wife earlier this year, thought I’d get to it over the weekend when I had more time to sit down and fill out an app, and when I got back to it a few days later, all the Amex offers disappeared from my wife’s CardMatch. I’ve never been able to pull up the 100k MR Platinum on CardMatch again.

When you say Europe, where are you planning to travel? And where out west will you be visiting?

I just want to make sure we're not talking about two different things.

Does DH want to combine his CIP with the CSR and CSP onto one online account for ease of payment or management?* If so, he's looking to combine a business online account and a personal online account, and he'll need to call Chase to do this. I've kept my accounts separate and it's just slightly more inconvenient. But I really don't want Chase's eyes on my accounts, and there was chatter about cards on merged cards having issues with Chase Pay (unsure if those issues have been fixed).

*Note that recently Chase stopped letting you add a Chase personal bank account as the payment account to pay an Ink card. You'll either have to write a check, call in your payment, or push a bill payment from the account you want to pay with.

Or does DH just want to combine the UR points on his CIP, CSP, and CSR onto one card (the CSR)? If so, he can do this himself. Here's a guide: https://milestomemories.boardingare...guide-how-to-combine-points-between-accounts/

In neither case, DH does not have to actually go into a Chase branch.

Thank you for this. I sent it to him. I think he wants to simplify things, but I keep saying they shouldn't be together. Just move the points. He already walked into a Chase office and was asked why he needed 2 Sapphires. :headache: I'm hoping this helps him realize that we need to keep a bit quiet.

You should be fine. You didn't double dip. ;)

And we did. Ugh...

Hello all. I just got back from a trip to Napa, so I'm a week behind and will never catch up.

I FINALLY did get the 3 elite nights from early August spend on my Marriott Business card. It only took 5 SM's to Chase - lol.

Anything exciting happen here in the last week?

Just checked my Southwest credit card account and I can see my 6000 points on the Chase side, but they haven't updated to Southwest yet.

This is the card I'm considering closing but will keep a little longer if I get a retention offer when I call. I've had it about 5 years and use the points for the kids. Now, the kids can pay their own way - but sometimes free helps make decisions easier.
Yes, same here. I think they offered at $39 instead of $69. Wasn't much, I'll probably cancel next year.

Me too! My mom is not much of a reader and this was the only books she ever read to me (read them all the way through!). It was such a special memory to me that I read them to my girls when they were younger. They dressed up like 'prairie girls' all the time with bonnets and everything. We had little House cookbooks and craft books. I didn't really think my boys would enjoy the books but surprisingly, they love them too. So, I'll be reading to the boys and if my dd18 is home and knows I'm reading, she'll wander in and lay on the floor to listen too :)
Love this on every level.

Me too, definitely a trip down memory lane! My oldest DD was impossible to keep in books. We had most of the one's mentioned.

I’ve been there.
Welcome to Alice's world

@Alice Sr. I never got an email on my Personal Gold. Just got the email I was approved and that was alll until I did the chat to check the status. It was 10 days from application approved to card in mail. Also I saw you said that about the Disney gift cards and waiting for your Gold. Just a heads up that it might be just as well. I don’t know how much level of data Amex gets from BJ’s but last year I had a lot of trouble having a bonus post on Amex and part of the charges was Disney gift cards from BJ’s. They probably do not have that level of data, but I am paranoid enough that I don’t think it is worth it to buy any gift cards for Amex MSR’s. It was so difficult getting the bonus to post that I stick to all organic spending. I just don’t want the drama. :)
Looking to see if there are more @kmc8826 type DP experiences out there or if that was more of a one-off. I finally received my amex gold, and BJ's 8% off Disney GC's is back on. I used my Discover to purchase $1750 when they 1st contacted me and planned on using the new gold for the remaining $2K I need for my DVC dues. I don't think of it as MS as I need the GC's but I guess it doesn't matter what I think if amex has a different opinion. On one hand it is so tempting to handle the spend and needed GC's all at once but on the other hand I am nervous I will be creating more work for myself. I definitely prefer to stay in the drama free camp. I could sit here in indecision until the 8% off window closes :confused3

I’m trying to pack for my trip. We will have 3 days in Florida then fly to Denver for 3 days in Colorado Springs. The weather fluctuation is challenging. Going from upper 80s to chance of 1-3 inches of snow and 30s. And I am undecided on a hotel for tomorrow night still! Eek
We leave tomorrow for Great Wolf Lodge in Co Springs but we are only there for a few days so we will be back home by the time you arrive. What are your plans in the Springs? I do think we are supposed to get some chilly weather soon. That will be a crazy change in temps for you!

:dancer: how close to platinum are you now?
We need 9 nights so I'm just watching the clock waiting and hoping for our anniversary nights to post around Dec. I kind of have everything hinged on it so I hope it all goes according to plan. (And if it does, sucks about the rollover now since we'll have 6 extra :( )

Those last 3 elite nights qualified me for Platinum!!!
