Considering using Plastiq to pay my mortgage to help get through the MSR on my CIP quicker. This feels like a big step! I am working my way through the Guide to Plastiq on reddit.

Any tips or things I may not be considering? Is there place on r/churning that tells you about specific companies and how to address things? Our mortgage is through Caliber, so not one of the big ones but I still want to research it a bit.

I just finally tried it this month. I hit a speed bump...they asked for a copy of my invoice. You may want to establish the relationship with a MasterCard first. That is what I am now doing. Send the payment of like $100 so it is in their system. Then switch to CIP for your April payment. Alot of people suggested addressing it attn:cashier Caliber. Good luck!

I didn't hear a peep. They also upgraded us to a "Times Square view" since I am Marriott Gold (via Amex Platinum card). You literally walk out the door and you are in TS. It's also next to the Richard Rodgers Theater which shows "Hamilton". For 5,000 more Marriott points, I'd personally book the Marquis. It's a large hotel with a cool elevator system.

I'm going to take your advice and book that instead. For only 5,000 more points, it's no big deal. My mom has never been to NYC, so may as well go all out with the experience when I'll be spending very little out of pocket anyways.

Good news...I found a MasterCard buried deep in my wallet. I am going to use that to send a payment to the mortgage company to establish a relationship so I can hopefully then send it with CIP next time. Fingers crossed!

@vanjust14, @wendow, @peel, any ideas how to creatively address a mortgage payment to:

Heritage Bank
PO Box 537
Hopkinsville, KY 42241

and

Caliber Home Loans
PO Box 650856
Dallas, TX 75265-0856

?

I need to sign up for AAA. Anyone want to PM me their support code? It asked me on the first page if I was referred.

Why do you need to join AAA?

So do we think I can still buy the SPG points to help hit the min spend on the spg biz or is that a no-no now with these new rules.

I would not consider hotel points any of the excluded categories of spend: fees or interest charges, cash advances, purchases of travelers checks, purchases or reloading of prepaid cards, purchases of gift cards, person-to-person payments, or purchases of other cash equivalents.

However my SPG points on the recent 35k offer from back in the fall posted immediately once I hit the spend amount, definitely no waiting period.

I can be the DP for this on the SPG Biz I got in January. Bonus posted and appeared in my "SPG Points Earned YTD" as soon as I hit the MSR. I had a Plastiq payment or two in there as well.

Recall how quickly your card came in the mail?

Sounds like you need a Marriott Biz. 75k Marriott points for $3k MSR in 3 months, first year AF waived.

Lol, it's on my radar! My last card was the Marriott personal - just got my points last month!

I want to do the SPG Biz but it's not likely that I can swing the spend quite yet.
So the Marriott may be the interim ticket.

Couldn’t you MS or buy gift cards for some of the Marriott $10k MSR? And shift more legitimate spend to the SPG promo? Chase seems like they d.g.a.f how you spend the MSR; Amex might.
a lot of money to float... im probably gonna pull marriott card out of my wallet since that one i still have a year to go on it. haha.

it took my SPG card about a week to get to me. if thats what your asking...

It appears that generally YES you should be eligible as AMEX looks to the SSN for bonus eligibility (not EIN). HOWEVER, If I were in your position I'd probably apply as a Sole Prop and use your SSN in both spots to be absolutely safe (if you feel comfortable doing so).

If you do this, I assume you're going to have him refer you to earn some extra points too correct? Just making sure you don't miss that step ;)

Thanks I will definitely have him refer me. What kind of business would I say it is? I have sold a few things here and there from our local classifieds page. Does that count as a "business?"

I think Tinkerbell must have spilled her entire bag of pixie dust on us today. We just checked into the Hyatt Regency in Aruba. I had reserved a regular room with garden view with my points. My reservation said partial garden view third floor. When we got here we were put into the Govener’s suite. 9th floor, with three balconies. Thank you Tinkerbelle, and Grace at the front desk.

Using Award Hacker for the next month to see if a halfway decent saver business seat opens up on AA for my June trip to NOLA. So far I have seen what TPG reported sometime back that AA award availability has loosened a bit, but what's available is awful. There are saver seats available both ways currently with routings that would help me see all of America: CA-Texas-DC-Nola, or CA-seattle-chicago-nola with 3 hour layovers in SEA and ORD... yeah, no. Anytime Awards it may be and since I have no need to book those right now I shall wait and see how my month goes with award hacker.

While I didn't end up using points (friend got a great deal) we booked LeMeridien New Orleans for our trip. I've never stayed at a LeMeridien (or any SPG property I think) so should be cool to check something new out. This one looks like it's got some character, but isn't in the French Quarter so we'll be able to sleep, it's across from Harrah's (I think) for anyone who knows the area. Anyone stayed at LeMeridien properties or even this one by chance?

Does this sound like a good valuation of Marriott points to this group? Lol, sometimes I get so turned around on points values it's hard for me to tell! 40,000 points for a room with two double beds for my mom and I at the Fifth Avenue Courtyard in NYC Dec. 22-23. Standard rate is $549/night, prepaid non-refundable was $469. 40,000 would be a good use, correct?

I think so. I divide by three(when talking Marriott) and say to myself, would I spend 13333 SPG points on a Dec night in NYC? Yes, but usually, I have stayed at Westin Times Square when it was 10K points. Its 20K now and they are charging a 25$ destination fee? What is that??

I understand your point value confusion. So I've developed my own idea of points value to compare.

Used the remainder of my IHG bonus (40,000) on two nights in Ocean City, Maryland this summer. We are going on a Saturday and Sunday at the end of July for my birthday so rates are in the $300 range for the Holiday Inn Express and Suites. I booked the points plus cash option so 20,000 points plus $70 a night. The cash rate would be $600 for the 2 nights so $140 plus 40,000 IHG points all in is a very good deal.

I booked my free night plus points nights at the Holiday Inn and Suites on 17th Street. Booked it at 40K before the increase to 50K. I also like the West Ocean City HI Express as it's closer to Assateague and Starbucks and Panera up the street! I'm going end of July also as we are at Hilton Head July 4th week. Got to get my OC fix each summer! My IHG account is running super low!

Starting with ATTN: seems to be working. So maybe ATTN Caliber and ATTN Heritage for recipient? I would start there.

@disneymagicgirl and @babyready,

I’m wondering if the Attn: Cashier would work as Recipient for your loans like it does for Provident. Then put the PO Box as the Recipient Address, and Heritage USA or Caliber in the Apt/Suite field. I’d be very hesitant to include “Bank” or “Home Loans” in any part of the Recipient name or address, but I can’t think of a good abbreviation right now.

I believe we are at the HIE West because it comes with free breakfast and with kids, that's invaluable. We do plan to check out Assateague after hearing great things about it. I plan to use my free night in California-either the Kimpton Gaslamp in SD or the IC in LA.
