I love credit cards so much!

Just purchased my tickets for my upcoming Miami trip! I've been stalking the prices and got a Google Flight alert just a few ago that the price had dropped $30. I ended up getting direct flights from my home airport to MIA for $166, or 13,200 UR points! Very excited!

I have been a long-time lurker and have started playing the game a bit this year. DH and I both have the CSR and the CIP that we have opened in the past year. We are purchasing solar in the next couple of months and we can put it on cc! Yay! We can also split it between 2 cards. I want to get the best bonuses available right now. Part of me is thinking the Marriott 120k bonus. We could each get it and get 240k points right? Does that card also come with a free night? Is that free night available right away? Is there a better card we should be thinking about? I am loving the ability to travel for less! We have already flown to Hawaii on just points and look forward to lots more points funded trips! Thanks in advance for the help! This forum seems so friendly and helpful that it made me brave enough to finally ask for help!

its 120k+7500 bonus point for a total of 127,500 after 12k spendings. I dont think it comes with a free night at the beginning, someone correct me if im wrong there. Currently, my idealogy is that 120k is hard to earn, this just makes it easy. that is the reason why i went for the 120k instead of the 75k. I have the means to make the bonus. Some people argue that you can probably get another card and earn a bigger bonus altogether, but someone brought up a point that the fact that its 1HP instead of 2 or 3. Whats a better card? well, i may think this card is better, but to you, it might be different. its hard to determine that. For example, my most prized card imo is my Citi Bank Premier card because i fly EVA air the most, so i value that a lot. Other people have told me this card is crap. lol. Depends on how you think.

Sorry for the late reply, i went to Vegas Sat, Sun. Just got back. Thanks @Lain for the tag!

The fee version usually has a $200-$250 sign up bonus so if cashback is your objective, the sign up bonus for the first year
more than offsets the $95 annual fee while testing out the card the first year to see if you break even on the $95. If you don’t find it as lucrative, the card can always be downgraded to the no fee version that earns 3% on groceries and 2% on gas. As mentioned, most who have the card here (@wendow and @gottalovepluto being two I know who also have and love the card) also use the card for gift card purchases, effectively earning 6% on everything you can purchase a gift card for at the grocery store. Amazon is one I do that for quite a bit and gas as well when it’s not a rotating category on the other two cards. Hope that helps!
Alas I don't have that card, only Amex cards I have right now are Delta & SPG :)

I thought amazon was consider a superstore and only earns the 1%. Is that right or does it fall under another category? I normally order my groceries from there when I feel like being lazy and allow someone to bring me the groceries.

When I referred to Amazon, what I meant was since grocery stores earn 6% cashback, what those of us who have this card will do is purchase Amazon gift cards (to load to your amazon account for amazon purchases) at any grocery store so you indirectly and effectively get 6% back on Amazon purchases. Since some of us may not utilize the full $6,000 on groceries organically in a year, this is a great way to maximize the 6% back by extending it to other categories (Amazon being one of them) as long as the gift cards are available at the grocery store.

AH! Must have been someone else hehe. This group feels like such a small knit group yet I know there’s a bunch of us, so I’m losing track I think :hyper2:

I'll chime in on the AMEX BCP. This is one of my keeper cards, year after year. My AF is always covered by utilizing AMEX Offers (DH is an AU and gets offers on his card too, so we can double up on those AMEX Offers). My Kroger store also has a gas station, so I will reload my Kroger gift card with my AMEX BCP, and then use the Kroger gift card to buy groceries and gas, thereby getting 6% back on both groceries and gas. I earn Kroger Fuel Points thru purchases, and often will save $1.00/gal off and both DH and I will fill up our tanks at the same time (tonight we saved $27 on gas). Kroger has a school fundraising program, where they will donate 5% of what you load onto your reloadable gift card to your designated school, so my kid's school gets funds this way too.

It might depend on where you do most of your grocery and gas purchases, whether or not you find the AMEX BCP worth it for you. It's one of my personal favorites.

When was your last Amex? I got the Delta Gold in Oct, my first Amex and they hard pulled, got the SPG Biz and no hard pull. No one really knows why or the timing, some people can go 6 months without a HP and others get a hardpull for their second card.
Hmmmm I got the BCP+ about 6 months ago.... will that make a difference?

Morning guys, it's my Disney day! We fly this afternoon. :)

Now here's a really stupid problem. I have a zillion Priority Pass cards. I pitched the ones that came with DH's Citi Prestige since we canceled that card weeks ago. I have memberships from my Amex Plat and Amex Surpass. The plat is a free entry for me. Surpass isn't... so how can I tell which membership card goes with which account?

We'll call this stupid churning. I'm usually more organized than this!

DoC had an article about this! https://www.doctorofcredit.com/quick-guide-differentiating-priority-pass-cards/

Safe travels and have a wonderful trip!

I used chase pay at bb Saturday using my csr and did automatically get 10x ur points so they fixed it—at least for new purchases.

I was just coming to post the same. I used Chase Pay on Friday 1/26 at BB with my CSR and got my 10x points when the charge posted yesterday. Now I just have to go back to do it with my new Freedom now that it showed up in Chase Pay.

I added the new card to Chase Pay on 1/20 and it showed up in the app as eligible on 1/28. They said 10 days to show as eligible, so not too far off. I'm sure that has been posted before but I hadn't seen it so I figured it was worth sharing for newbies like me.

For ones who have booked hotel stays off the Chase portal have there been issues with it such as the room was never actually booked? I've been reading that people have had these issues with them and they say they will never book this way again.

I have booked a hotel through the portal and got a confirmation from Chase. I thought that would be enough. So I did recently contact the hotel by way of email (waiting for a response ) for a confirmation or something from them. But just wondering has anyone heard of or had these isssues?

I had no problem , but I emailed the hotel to confirm. I don't think it's a bad practice

DH and I both used Chase Pay for the first time yesterday (Kohls and Trader Joe's) Charges haven't posted so hopefully got my 5x. I showed DH how to do it and afterwards said, ok now you know what to look for and how to do it. DH replied how do you know if they take it. I said, the symbol on the card reader. His reply, what symbol, I was so busy looking at my phone I didn't notice anything. :sad2:

I always call the hotel and request the hotel's confirmation number for the booking, just to make sure I have no issues. Except for the boutique hotel I just helped my parents book, I didn't tell them to call the hotel & confirm their reservation- so thanks for the reminder!
ETA: and I've had no issues either. The only issue I've had was when I tried to cancel a refundable hotel and it errored out because that Hilton was having issues and wouldn't refund Chase so Chase wouldn't refund me. It took a few back and forths but Chase finally got hold of the hotel manager for their refund and gave me mine.

I’ve booked a Hyatt in DC and Royal Pacific in Orlando and had no problems whatsoever. I didn’t even think to confirm my reservation.

I've booked through the Chase portal for a hotel as well and had no issues. I received an email from Chase after I book and never gave it a second thought.

I used the Chase portal for UO with no issues. I'm pretty sure I also used it when driving to FL from VA last year with no issues.
