Disney has been removed from the Chase UR booking portal.

correct me if im wrong, but Disney packages are no longer able to be booked via portal yeah?
Disney hotels can still be booked? Tickets can be booked?

I say that Chase did change their portal partner to Expedia which seems like the reason of the removal.

As u can tell, i dont book Disney haha.

Asking for my cousin again...If you wanted to begin accruing points for travel to Europe and Asia over next couple of years, would you pick AA or Delta cards to focus on? Or MR's? He seems to not like the idea of collecting MR's, and wants to target an airline's points. He worked for Delta for years but his benefits expire in 2019 so he and his family have been able to fly standby. He's obviously trying to figure out a solution going forward. I'm not sure how to advise as we don't travel int'l at all.

I've used both AA and MRs. Honestly I thought the MRs were better because they gave us more options. I was hoping the last trip we took could be a combo of the 2, but AA refused to let me use my AA miles to book BA when they opened up the seats. They wanted me to wait another 3-4 weeks for AA to open up their window and by then the BA seats would have disappeared. So for me, the MRs were easier to use (esp. since we could book AFrance on the way there, which wasn't possible with my AA miles). Now I'm sitting on a bunch of AA miles though - wish I had been able to use them and save the MRs. Oh, and AMEX had a "sale" on Avios, so it took far fewer MRs anyway.

ETA - I don't know much about Delta miles since we rarely fly Delta. We tend to book AA more since they have so many flights from our area.

I would look at what the reward mileage/points are and then look at the credit card sing up bonuses. On AA it can sometimes cost 60K miles roundtrip just to fly coach domestically depending on the dates.

as well as swych via paypal checkout

Also can add Discover to Amazon and check out on Swych with Amazon pay to get 5% back on Discover for the 4th quarter. The last 2 years, swych has had some decent deals on discounted gift cards in December leading up to Christmas.

I saw a parent hit his kid for the first time this past September. He was hitting the kid hard wasn’t like a smack on the butt. The kid was screaming. I imagine from being in pain. I couldn’t believe it. It really disturbed SO and I.

Our 11 yo ds commented when were at DL this summer on how badly some people were treating their kids, hitting them and/or being mean to them. He's a sensitive guy and he was really sad for those kids.:(

Kind of sounds like my Disney trip two weeks ago. Crazy heat, crowds, screaming kids and parents. I will say the second half of my trip was better than the first. And now I can't wait to go back but I was ready to get home this time too which isn't normal for me.

We witnessed so many parents just railing on their kids. The one time we were in line for a QS meal at Disney Springs. The kid was upset and the mom just went BONKERS and starting screaming the F word at the top of her lungs at the kid while smacking him, etc. The rest of her party acted like this was completely normal. That really bothered me.

I'm sorry this trip wasn't relaxing for you. I'm sure your next Disney trip will be better.
I’m not sure when we will return. It most likely won’t be until after Japan and maybe not even for a couple years or more. I honestly don’t want to go anywhere near wdw with Star Wars opening.

I am sorry it was a hard trip.

We just got back too, and agree it was busy and crazy. Best was just hanging out being goofy with the kids and my parents worst was just the amount of people at “special events” like EMM at HS and Mickey’s BBQ (we ate and walked out). We didn’t do the MNSHP.

For us the secret is not doing public transportation (worth it to drive), to always take breaks in afternoon, not be jammed into one hotel room. If you can’t afford a DVC villa or multiple rooms people really should stay off site. Windsor Hills is awesome and cheap compared to onsite. It is as close as AKL. A separate room for parents and a kitchen does wonders. Plus everyone sleeps better.

Breaks for our kids consisted of them crawling into bed and watching the endless loop of Mickey cartoons. I am sad to report that this trip they were too lazy to even want to swim. But we averaged 25k steps a day and no real complaints. I do think parents are more violent and stressed and ridiculously over rely on technology. They are at WDW for heavens sake...why do they need to be playing a game on a tablet?

We did have some weird stuff with CM’s. But I think almost all that a reflection of the people they have to deal with. When I was just a little nice we got pixie dust. (Even little stuff like them charging the 9 year old price for my now 10 year old who eats nothing. Our one TS meal and maybe she appreciated my honesty).

I renewed our AP’s though and am really looking forward to our first DVC trip in January. Count me in the “not done with Disney; sorry but I still love it” column. :)
I would love to be able to drive to wdw if it didn’t take an entire day to get there.

Disney has been removed from the Chase UR booking portal.
Okay, thanks. I had heard that rumor but wasn't sure if that was what people were referring to. That does stink, but since I can usually find other ways to save on Disney things I don't usually use my Chase Rewards to pay for Disney - although I did pay for a DCL cruise a couple years ago...

MIL lives in Albuquerque and it sounds like we are going to have to go there for a visit in the next year or two. Please let me know if you enjoy your time there. We are considering adding a few "fun" days to that trip as well. And yes, now that it seems like I can't use the URs for Disney I'm not hoarding them. I may regret that, but it's time for us to go to other destinations anyway. (Not that we are giving up DL, WDW, or DCL).
I AM giving up all things Disney (for now :rolleyes1).

About one year ago I started dabbling in this hobby specifically for Disney redemption. I need my vacations to be mostly free, not reduced by buying discounted gift cards. Disney diving into their current money grubbing mode has really helped me break off the love affair, Chase dropping Disney sealed the "divorce".

I am really looking forward to venturing out to new places. I will let you know how awesome NM is next spring. And thanks to @Artygal90 I have an amazing itinerary to work with!

Holy smokes! That would have really bothered my too. I’m bothered just by one cussword being screamed at a kid. Hearing that sort of thing makes me want to yell out “you’re an ADULT, get a thesaurus and learn some new words to scream!” But the smacking in Disney- that poor kid :( So many bad parenting choices are witnessed at Disney. It’s like Disney is the ultimate parent endurance test. My hat is off to all our Disney Parents here!

:offtopic: This all reminds me that we had a thread going on the DIS sometime back of like the best Disney breakdowns people had witnessed. Kids and parents. It was good for a while but then it deteriorated as such things do. My favorite stories were from parents who ended up looking like they were horrible people but there was so much more going on (obviously not the case you witnessed!). My favorite was these parents whose very little kid was obsessed with going on HM since he found out he was going to WDW. They didn’t know why, it kinda came out of nowhere but he was very insistent. His parents talked to him to make sure, watched videos, told him it would be scary- kid was insistent. Hands down it was basically the reason for his existence by departure day. They arrive at MK early afternoon and should have gotten lunch but the kid is only about HM. They head straight there, wait through the line, are up front when the doors open, and out of nowhere the kid plants his feet and screams “NOOOOOOOOO!!!” in his absolute best bloody murder voice. Shock ensues. In the end the dad threw him over his shoulder & took him in anyway. I would have been 100% judging them had I witnessed that & especially if I had to ride near them- but knowing the background story it was the same call I would have made!

Any suggestions on what should be next for DH? View attachment 362292

I am thinking another chase biz card maybe? The amex plat is not showing up yet on his CR so he actually "looks" like 0/30, 0/90, 0/120 PLUS cip to chase.
Chase Biz looks good to me. Just make sure his Chase credit limits are down in acceptable ranges prior to applying. (60k-70k)

The only rewards that I've ever used for a WDW trip is turning in miles for airfare when the ticket prices wouldn't drop to a level I am comfortable paying cash for. I won't pay more than $350 cash RT from LAX.

I agree. The money grabs I keep seeing are helping me break away. The new one this week that made me roll my eyes is the premium parade/fireworks party that they are offering during the premium extra expensive MVMCP. Apparently this exclusive event is being sold to so many people that they are now asking for another premium ticket on top of the party price just so people can get a decent view.

Now that I have flights to Orlando for Thanksgiving, I can't decide what to do for hotels! Our flight arrives at 12:50 am Wed and I have 2 day passes to SeaWorld and/or Aquatica, getting Premier APs for Uni and will have a rental car. So
Plan A) Tues-Sat- Make the Renaissance SeaWorld our home base for 4 nights
Plan B) Tues- Thurs- Renaissance SeaWorld, Thurs-Sat- Sapphire Falls or Cabana Bay (leaning towards SF)
Plan C) Tues- Marriott near airport, Wed-Sat- Make Sapphire Falls or Cabana Bay (leaning towards SF) our home base
Plan D) Tues-Sat- Make Sapphire Falls or Cabana Bay (leaning towards SF) our home base

Thurs will be probably meet up with my brother at Uni to use our AP EP at 4 pm and have dinner with him and his wife. I need 3 more nights with Marriott for Platinum. One of those nights will be our return home since we have a late flight home also. Thoughts???? Suggestions???? I am going crazy trying to decide.
