I love credit cards so much!

"I need to refinance my mortgage first and don't want anything to mess with that." TRUTH. This can wait until you wrap that up, but by planning this early you can have a solid plan when you're out of those mortgage woods!

Since you're 4/24 I would consider hitting the Chase Ink Preferred (CIP) first. This will leave you at 4/24 because Chase business cards don't count towards 5/24 (but you must be under 5/24 to qualify for a Chase biz card). You can then get the CSR after a few months. Depending on how everything lays out in your plans and x/24 status you could consider "The Double Dip". This is where by following some strict guidelines the churning community has figured out you can try to get yourself approved for the CSR and CSP in the same day. But, you need to have the self discipline to meet both spends in 3 months without purchasing items you would not otherwise purchase.

CIP is a business card. Don't have a business? Yes, yes you do :) I sell stuff on ebay, others sell on craigslist, some tutor, some sell cookies, some consult, does someone here braid horse hair for horse shows? I feel like someone I've encountered on the DIS does/did... Basically, we all have a business if we really think through stuff. You don't need an EIN, you don't need to have a business registered anywhere, you just apply using your name as the business name and your SSN as the tax id. If you want more info on this one just ask! As I said many here have CIPs for their "biz". The current CIP offer is 80k URs for $5k spend in 3 months plus af of $95 that is not waived. There is a 100k UR offer but you have to track down a specific banker at your local Chase and sit down and discuss your business so many opt for the 80k offer, we can also provide more info on the 100k route if you're interested. And- you can transfer the points to your CSR when you open that for the better redemption rate.
I agree on CIP.

@Angeliki19 I’m a fellow single mom (since 2010) and boy do I appreciate a vacation with my children. This thread has made a Disney Cruise to Alaska possible and next summer we are hoping to do 10 days in Europe thanks to credit card sign up bonuses. Welcome!

Applied for the CIC for DH this morning. Got the expected 30-day response. Just impatiently called the status line and still at 30 days. Fingers crossed! I would have liked to have waited a little longer before applying, but I wanted to make sure the app got in ahead of May 20 just in case the 50k offer goes away. DH is at 2/6 and 1/3 (CSP approved 2.10.18 and CIP approved 3.21.18). I figure worse case scenario if he is denied is to try again in 30+ days if the offer is still out there or otherwise have him apply for CIU for the same bonus. I do really want one of us to have the CIC, though, for the 5x bonus categories, but as long as the card doesn't go away altogether, I have the fallback of product changing his CIP after he refers me for one this Fall (assuming I get approved, that is).

Just realized with my car payment scheme, the pay off amount plus Plastiq fees is about $12,735 and between the three cards we'll have $13k MSR. And I should totally knock out all $5k of the CIP spend on Plastiq, plus one CSR, and put the rest on the last CSR... leaving about $265 to go on it that we can use on whatever or even eating out, instead of paying the Plastiq fees on cards that will only earn base points.

Actually, DH and FIL will be heading to a small town this weekend to help a friend do some work on a house he just bought, so I know there will be several trips to the McDonald's down the street that they can use the CSR on...

ETA: Also figured out that currently, If I move all bills to Plastiq that I can, the fees could easily be covered by getting a few bank bonuses... :thumbsup2

I think this question got missed yesterday, if I add DH as an employee on my new Delta BIZ gold, will that make it so he wouldn't be eligible for his own bonus later?

Thank you!

I answered your question yesterday, but happy to reiterate. Being added as an employee will not prevent him from getting his own bonus later.

Hi all!!! Newly single mom who could use your advice!! (Thanks @Jen and Ashwin for the recommendation!)

I am trying to take stock of my current CC's and figure out what my plan is moving forward after the divorce. After spending hours on The Points Guy website, I feel like what I ultimately want is to get the Chase Sapphire Reserve card and use it in combo with the Chase Freedom card to maximize UR points. I am aware of the 5/24 rule, and after checking, unfortunately I opened 4 cards in the past 24 months. So it looks like at the most I could get 1 new card now, and then a second after Jan 1 2019.

A little about my traveling style: The Disney trip I am currently planning for next Feb 2019 involves renting DVC points, buying tickets from Undercover Tourist and flying Southwest. Planning to get the Dining Plan this year because even though I know it might cost me more, I do NOT trust myself to not overspend while there and want to have as much paid off in advance of the trip as possible.

Besides a yearly trip to Disney, I have a few European trips planned in the next few years so I plan to utilize these cards for the long term, not just for churning.

Which card would you advise me to go with first until I can get approved for a second next year? I know that the 5x categories rotate and that right now Paypal (meaning DVC rental) is included, but unfortunately its probably going to be a month or so before I could apply. My credit is exceptional, but I need to refinance my mortgage first and don't want anything to mess with that. Not sure when this quarter ends.

I would appreciate any and all advice!

I think I'm out of my brain fog from this morning, so I wanted to reply too...

What cards do you currently have? I am wondering if you have one you could PC to a CF now so you can at least start racking up 5x UR while you are waiting for the refi to close.

When you do get past the refi, I would consider the CIP, if you have any sort of "business." It is kinda scary getting your first biz card but gets easier from there. If not, then a CSR/CSP double dip would be a great move. That basically consists of app'ing for both cards on the same day, but check here for directions prior to doing so. Once you have both, you can PC one to the CF. The more CFs the merrier.

I am just learning with the bank bonuses, but that may be a good way to get some cash to cover your dining plan.

Welcome to the group!

Seriously? I am sorry that I missed it!! I thought I saw all responses, but this thread can move so fast. Sorry and thank you!!!
Blah, I need the card before I can add him, and my card obviously isn't here yet. Shoot, wanted it for going out of town next weekend when he and my son head to the breweries without me.

Maybe try calling to get him added and see if they would get it sent quickly. Say that your "employee" will be traveling next weekend.

Don’t you still have the old Chase Ink Plus card? There’s significant overlap between the Ink+ and the CIC.

I don’t think personal codes do anything to circumvent Chase’s approval process. But you’re putting the cart before the horse, because fingers crossed you might not even have to recon.
I do. That was the card I was referring to in my first post about how I don't really *need* the 5% categories of the CIC. It's the points I was eyeing. I've had to call for every Chase card I've applied for recently so I'm beginning to feel like an auto-recon. :(

@disneymagicgirl just so you potentially don’t freak out like me. Discover gives the bonus pretty quickly. So when I only had 15k deposited the $150 bonus posted. I messaged them saying I was going for the $200 bonus and I still had time to complete the deposit. They said the $50 would post after the total deposit totaled the amount. I did get it when it posted. The same thing happened for my SO’s account, but I didn’t SM this time and the $50 posted shortly after the $150. So if your $150 bonus posts don’t get discouraged the $50 will show once the requirements are met. I tend to freak out prematurely lol.

If you can I’d love to hear how your experience goes with Citi. I haven’t done them yet, but it seems like a great easy bonus too.

Disneyland peeps: Haloween info is out! https://www.disboards.com/threads/f...isneyland-resort-returns-september-7.3683172/
It wasn’t even on my radar to watch for yet!

I want to go to a Halloween party so bad. I did the Christmas party in November and had a blast.

How are those events at DL? The ones at WDW used to be so wonderful but then they got crazy crowded, to the point that I am done with them. So sad. Is it better at DL? I am still trying to decide btwn WDW and DL this year.

We only have the Halloween Party. I was supposed to go to my first one last year but got sick so I’m gonna try to hustle up enough bonuses this year to try again!

OK Thanks! I am waiting on the ally deposit to post, then I will send it over to Discover. I will update you on the Citi bonus for sure!

Oh, I went to the one at World. DL doesn’t have a Christmas party, but they should get one. I went early at world and the rides were dead. I wasn’t interested in characters but those lines were insane.

Still crowded and getting more expensive every year, so hard to justify. We had such a blast at Mickey’s Halloween Party at DLR our first year, two years ago, that we went again last year and it wasn’t great.
