I love credit cards so much!

I am hopelessly behind on this thread. Just going to come here and forget the last 30 pages. If anything crazy happened since Sunday, maybe a brief update would be amazing.

Life has been crazy for me lately. I cannot stay up on this thread either. And I've completely given up trying...Only thing I noticed that was getting a lot of chatter was the Chase rumor of them not allowing points to be moved to other cards for combining. Really hope that is not true!

@hsmamato2

So If I'm understanding this correctly...
  1. If all of that is true...With your current points total you could book a Nights and Flights + 70,000 southwest points package right now (that costs 310k)
    - In this scenario you would be using 150,000 Marriott points to get 70,000 SW points. Using my earlier example this is potentially taking $1,500 worth of hotels and trading it for ~ $1,050 in flights.
.....AND...... if I chose to just use the marriott as points for 160k, that leaves me with 150k Marriott which= 50k SPG....... so essentially if I'm thinking in SPG currency, I'm spending 50k SPG for 70 SWA points. hmmmmm...this is hard...esp.since none of us knows what's going to happen to spg after August 1st (places like Swolphin) for redemption..and if they're still valuable.

Yeah - that 50k SPG is worth a 5 night stay at Swolphin (as it stands now)...That's why I say it's basically comparing a possible hotel value of $1,500 vs. a SW value of $1,050... Decisions Decisions..........

This is unacceptable @wendow... We need you here reading all the posts...c'mon! :rotfl2:

Giftcardmall is now also not tracking Visa giftcard purchases through cashback portals.:sad::sad:

I hope these companies change their mind once they see their sales go down. In the mean time I’ll see if I can liquidate mastercard giftcards at my grocery stores since that will give cashback.

I would call in with both of you there and give it a shot. I did get a Disney referral added as an adjustment by doing that a couple years ago. The funny part was I was the voice of me and my wife on that call :rotfl2: I had to keep the voices straight in my head lol! I Had to REALLY argue to win tho - it wasn’t easy.
:worship:

I know it’s not a Canadian holiday just thought it might be blocked due to Americans traveling, since its very close to US, and cruise season

It's close but needing to have a passport to go up there keeps a lot of people from going for a short weekend than before. There also wouldn't be any more cruises than normal. Some might come in a day earlier or stay later because of the holiday but I would think most would use the day to avoid taking an extra vacation day rather than make their trip longer.

I think their summers are busy like Seattle. Lots that come just to visit and then it's busier when a cruise ship is in port. But I feel like Seattle is always busy with people any more while Vancouver wasn't that bad when I was there last year Feb for a weekend.

Has no one posted this yet? Southwest Intends to Serve Four Hawaii Airports:

Honolulu, Oahu, HI (HNL)
Kahului, Maui, HI (OGG)
Kona, the Big Island, HI (KOA)
Lihue, Kauai, HI (LIH)

and from Beat of Hawaii.

Still no details about dates, routes, or pricing.

I'm curious if they are going to offer inter-island flights or if they'll partner with someone. Granted if they are flying to the 4 main islands there's generally no reason to connect to another on arrival or departure only during the middle of your trip. But I would think if they want to get people to use their SW Vacations (they still have those right?) that they'd have to have some type of inter-island or why would someone book with them for a multi-island stay.

Afternoon all! So I heard about the CIP 100K in-branch promo for the first week of May and am thinking about going for this card a bit earlier than planned! It is for a real business idea, albeit only a hypothetical one at this point. I'd like to set up a section of my new apartment to take in freelance sewing work for people as well as my previous employer as I know they'll need extra help in the fall. I've taken in this kind of work before but only dealt in cash and only made a tiny amount of money (like $100 net. I need to charge more, but that's a different story.) However, I've been reading up on people's experiences trying to get the CIP and now I'm nervous that I don't make enough/don't have an impressive enough credit card history to get approved.

Any tips for getting approved since it's a brand-new business without any customers yet and my expected revenue is pretty small? I can make a pretty solid case about why I would need a credit line to get set up in this business with all the equipment and supplies I would need. I wouldn't *actually* buy it all on the CIP as I don't have the cash to pay for it yet. But they don't need to know that....

Only tip is, I see you said "$100 net" to me that means "profit". The application will ask about revenues, not profit, so you'd want to use your gross. That should make it look a little better. After all, you're not going to be charging your profits onto the card, you'd be charging expenses. If you used $2000 of material to generate a $2100 sale, you'd net $100 but they'd make money on the 2k you charged (potentially).

Well Dang. I did it- I ended up just using the points for the room. Not sure if I made the right decision re SWA points, but I ended up using a around 53k SPG for the stay that would have been 80k spg by going with a marriott property. So that's a bargain right there! Hope the SPG/Marriott thing pans out,and those points are still valuable to me in the future! I can always top up SWA pretty easily tho. @SouthFayetteFan you were a HUGE help. At the last second I decided to hold off on SWA points,as I dont have an immediate need anyway. FYI the Marriott site is much glitchier than SPG.

I'll try to not let all this praise go to my head ;) :goodvibes haha!

The nice part here is if you reconsider and want the SW points you can probably cancel and book the nights and flights later :) As long as the property is still available and Marriott hasn't adjusted the categories at all. If you'd the nights and flights now you probably can't undo it. :) I think you made a wise decision given the facts ::yes::

I'm guessing all of us who are complaining about this are flying SW. The SW gates are in the 100-129 section. The MCO lounge that is closest for SW is by gate 90 (I believe). So, you have to take the tram that goes to gates 70-99, eat at the lounge, take the tram back to the terminal and you would then need to take the tram to gates 100-129. However, when you come off the tram, they do not allow you to just go over to the other tram, they force you back into the main terminal, which requires TSA again. Does that make sense?

I think Delta gates are by the other MCO lounge, which obviously works great for Delta fliers.

Perfect yes. That makes sense. I am so impressed you have the gates memorized! And glad at least being a Delta hostage pays off in this instance!

Well - I hit my goal for the year so it's 8 months of gravy my friends...Lots of time to DIS :)

:lmao:
While I probably couldn't do it in 4 months like that since I'm not great at sales/bus dev/relationship gurus (whatever is the flavor of the month now) but since I have to change jobs anyway maybe I should look into changing professions as well!
And it just confirms what I always suspected of our sales team, they work for a couple months and then slack off like a long term case of senioritis :)
