I love credit cards so much! v7.0 - 2025 (see first page for add'l details)

It will add but how long has he had the card? If I remember/understand correctly, it should add it with the card open date, not when you are added as an AU.
OH gosh... probably a whole lot of years... but at least two years. The irony of it is that he almost never flies!

Unless it has changed and I missed it, Chase back dates the AU to the original card open date of the cardholder. So if he opened the card more than 2 years ago, then even when it shows up on your report it will be outside the 24 months. If it was less, then it could affect your 5/24 state.

Only other drawback is just in general AU stuff. Being an AU on an account with good credit is helpful, if the account has any negatives then it is not so helpful. The AU sword swings both ways.
Whoops missed this one; sorry.

I think he has definitely had the card more than 2 years. And he has very good credit; I learned my own habits from my parents!

Thank you!

Thank you! I've taken a quick look I think for us the rewards and multipliers come out a little better on the Citi cards. But if the portals are better for redemption then that might help. Can anyone offer a good comparison of the pros and cons of Citi vs Chase portals?

I believe you only get 1 cent per point in the Citi travel portal after the change to Strata. With Chase, you get at least 1.25 cpp with a CSP and 1.5 with a CSR. With the new travel boost, that can be more sometimes. However, there is no Disney in the Chase portal outside of some exceptions that pop up from time to time. You can easily cash out Chase UR for 1 cpp though and use that money to book Disney with cash. You can do this with any card that earns URs. So for the very specific purpose of Disney hotels, I'd say Chase is better.

Chase URs can be combined with household members with no limit. Up to 100k Citi TYP can be shared, but once shared they expire within 90 days.

It's easier to amass a lot of URs with sign-up bonuses if you also get the Ink business cards. It's harder to get a lot of TYP.

With the Inks, beware that the Ink Premier is basically a cashback card and doesn't earn traditional URs.

For your non-Disney trips, you can get a lot of value from URs by transferring to Hyatt (you would need a CSP/CSR/CIP to do this). You can get a Hyatt Place in some locations for as low as 3500 points.

ETA: Just checked and it's not 1.25/1.5 with the Chase portal now. All depends on what the points boost is. I don't use the portal, so haven't kept up with the changes.

This park is on my list, only a 4 hour drive from me. Was 3 days plenty of time for the park? Would you share the area you stayed in? I can't figure out where to stay. Not as easy as those with must stay in-park lodges or easy gateway towns like Zion/Springdale.
It was a 5 hour drive for us, so we left Thursday afternoon, drove 2/3 of the way and stayed in a hotel somewhere in the middle of nowhere lol. Friday we hit sandstone area (which is really far out of the way from the rest of the sites we planned), then drove up to grandview (which was so foggy we couldn’t see anything), then Thurmond area (which I would not skip!!). By late afternoon we drove up to Fayetteville and stayed 2 nights there in a beautiful Airbnb with a horse pasture in front.
Fayetteville was a great jump off point for us cuz it was 15 minutes to the bridge overlooks and main visitor center, fayette station drive and the main hikes we wanted to do on Saturday (endless wall, long point), plus it had all the stores and restaurants close enough as well.
Sunday we hit grandview area again since the weather was clear (castle rock, tunnel trails) on our way back south.
3 days was the perfect amount of time for us and what we wanted to see! Any more than that and I think we might’ve gotten bored. We didn’t do any rafting or the bridge walk though. If we did those, I’d probably add one more day in.
Olympic and MtRainier are beautiful. If you have time, add in N. Cascades. I didn't and kick myself all the time. I'll have to get back out there. In Mt Rainier, we stayed in Paradise at the Paradise Inn. Great location and I used to see it on the Chase Portal. No idea if it is still there or not. Books up very quickly.
Unfortunately, Grove of the Patriarchs is still closed due to flood damage. It was one of our favorite spots.

Have fun!
Thank you for the recommendation on lodging! We definitely want to stay in paradise area for mt rainier, so I’ll have to check the chase portal for that! We’re 1 year out so none of the hotels are bookable yet, but I plan to be on top of the window to get the coveted places close in the park! I’ve been trying to see how we can fit in N Cascades… it’s just so far out of the way!

The Marriott biz is also elevated if you want to try that. Also, did you try without a support? Sometimes that can help, depending on how deep you're in the hole with Amex.
Thanks. I tried without a support and also for the biz card without luck. I guess I am completely blocked from AmEx right now.

I looked around at a few options and decided to go for the elevated United Quest. Instant approval with a high limit. I was also able to call and have it expedited.

Thank you, we will do that. Should we limit how soon we apply for cards for each of us? Can we each apply for a card on the same date since we have the same address? and we should wait 30 days before applying for a second if I recall correctly what others have said on youtube videos.

With any bank (Citi, Chase, etc) can we pool points together or use use rewards/redemptions consecutively- like would we have to use rewards with mine to book 2 nights, and then 2 with hers for 2 different reservations for 4 consecutive nights? Doubling up on SUB for cards is something I had not thought about!!

Follow up for anyone that knows- Is one platform better than another for purchasing park tickets? For 4 of us any trip to Disney/Universal they will be the biggest expense as we like to go with inexpensive accommodations and will spend some but not a ton on food. Is UC the best way since they are coded as travel vs entertainment?
With Chase you can “pool” points. You can transfer URs from your Chase account to hers or hers to yours. I currently hold the CSP. I transfer all of my URs and all of his URs to my CSP.
Not sure about your other questions.

I'm looking to book some SW flights and not sure I understand the new rules for free bags. The flights are for Sept/Oct so assigned seating shouldn't apply yet. My mom has a SW biz card, but not many SW points. My stepdad has a lot of SW points, but no SW card. If we book flights on his account using his points, would she still get a free checked bag? TIA!

As long as the cardholder is traveling, they get free bags for themselves and up to 8 folks on the reservation. It doesn't matter if the points came out of their account.

If booking from his account, make sure that her RR account is linked to her name on the ticket because that's how they know that the reservation has a cardholder on it for free bags.

Question on the Bilt cc.... ds app'd for the CiC last week, (approved) same day tried for Bilt, denied. He's waiting for a letter, should he call in to ask?
replying to self for a DP... ds got a letter in mail saying he had to many inquiries in last 6 months + no mortgage, auto or non revolving trade.... He got an ink last week, and then one maybe 5-6 months ago, does that show up on report? Also,I thought Bilt was for paying a rent? So for those of you who have experience with this cc/company- should he try calling in? He's just started paying rent last month at his new place

The business cards don’t show on his report but the inquiries will.
