I love credit cards so much! v7.0 - 2025 (see first page for add'l details)

Has anyone with an IHG card received their $25 United credit yet for this 6 month period? I'm still waiting on it, I've always received it by the 5th before.

So I have flights booked on SW for cruise in March. Flying from MSP to LGB. With layover in Phoenix. They changed time of Phoenix flight and we only have 50 minutes between flights. Any delays and we miss the flight. My plan was to book an extra flight for everyone from PHX to LGB just in case we miss the connecting flight. My reason is there is 8 of us and chances they will have 8 open seats on the next flight is slim. If we make the flight - great, if not we have a backup that leaves 4 hours later. Thought this was a great idea - until I remembered that others had duplicate flights booked and SW cancelled one of them. Is that what will happen if we book one leg of the trip with another flight option, just in case....
If I’m reading correctly you want to book flights on the same day….if so yes SW will cancel one of the flights

Keep an eye for better SIN flights if you can change and have the phone patience of a saint (which you've probably developed by now!). I just spent 2.5hrs on the phone this weekend with aeroplan to change my flight in a few months from practically that same route (DEN/FRA/CPH/SIN) to LAX-SIN (with a quick stop in NRT), far preferable for this CA based flyer.
I cannot thank you enough for this amazing advice. When AC cancelled the direct flight to CPH the CSR was focused on getting us to CPH to get the SA flight.

I called AP this morning -- first CSR (I called as myself -- 2nd highest tier with AC) said that I had already accepted the new schedule and there weren't any seats on the flight that I was eyeing (YYZ-->LHR on AC and LHR-->SIN on SA) so I was SOL. I asked if he could transfer me to a supervisor, understanding that he probably wasn't able to help me. After 35 mins on hold I HUCA as my dh (highest status with AC, usually gets more experienced CSRs). I lucked out and got a CSR who has been with AC for 35 years and was AMAZING. The first few options she gave me were all on AC metal (and 1 left a day earlier than we wanted to leave); she had to call their backend to see if they could open up a seat on SA (because the CSRs can only open seats on AC metal); the wait for the back end was close to an hour, maybe more, but it paid off. We are now flying YYZ --> FRA (AC) --> SIN (SA) and we land at 5pm on the 22nd instead of 7:30am on the 23rd! Plus we have an 11 hour layover in FRA so I can take ds into the city to wander around and get some schnitzel before taking the subway back to the airport. There was another option on Lufthansa, but I'd much rather fly with SA than Lufthansa.

Nope, mine hasn't arrived yet, still only the $25 from last period (July 2024) that is due to expire soon. I wonder if they finally caught onto the 10 day overlap period, and have changed the January deposit date...

Flown both many times - perfectly acceptable especially on the daytime flight which I have a strong preference for on this route as I find it virtually eliminates any Jetlag issue.

I also prefer Virgin for their service and the seat just seems a little more roomy. Premium on virgin gets a dedicated check in line but that is not always the case on BA.

Virgin usually flies a 2-3-2 configuration so I guess the middle 3 would work well for you. BA sometimes uses the 777 which has a less desirable 2-4-2 layout in premium.
Thanks! I wish they offered more day time flights to Europe. Ds is adamant about not sleeping on the plane.

Dh was thinking we’d fly virgin. Ds will most likely want the window so I think him and I will sit together and dh across the aisle which is less than ideal but I’m not sure we’d want to all be in the middle.

I cannot sleep on flights (sadly even in F from LAX to SYD...so very painful...) and the daytime flight we flew from BOS to LHR was game changing last summer! I so highly recommend it, despite it being on BA's old, crappy business product (they switched at the last minute >:( which I know happens but I had done a LOT of crazy things to ensure One World Emerald status so I didn't have to pay for seats...then again, at least I didn't have to pay for seat selection so there's that). Anyhooo...it was SO AWESOME to fly during the day (again, despite the painfully early wake up call😴), land, and then by the time immigration was cleared, luggage was obtained (y'all carry on only people are rolling your eyes...), our driver was met (you public transportation people are too:laughing:) and we made it to our hotel and were in our suite, we had time for a little nosh in the concierge lounge, shower and bed...just perfect!

I highly, highly recommend the timing for those who cannot sleep on planes or have issues with days of jet lag and do wish there were more daytime flights but for those of us who fly from the East Coast (since the flights are short), this is the best way to do it, IMHO, especially for me. If I have to suck it up and pay the crazy taxes and deal with London then fine, it's better than missing out on half a week or feeling just terrible for part of my vacation.

Virgin sounds like an even better experience so if you try it out please report back 😊

I just had a friend ask for advice on transferring a balance to a zero interest card. I don't carry a balance, so I know nothing about doing this. Are there any cards that are better than others for this? I assume none of these would earn any rewards doing this?

Thank you!
Typically there is a fee involved of 3-5%. Rarely you will find a no fee offer for this, but these days it's very very rare. Rewards are not earned on balance transfers.

The day time flight seems like such a good option. I love that we can get there and adjust to the time easier. Jet lag is so much harder with kids. Dh wants to go this summer but I convinced him to wait until next year lol

This makes me glad I picked a daytime flight to London. I haven't flown over the pond yet so not sure how I'll deal with jet lag. Hopefully this helps anyway. I went with AA JFK - LHR

By the way, I am laughing at everyone saying east coast to London is a SHORT flight. Makes me realize I haven't traveled far because 7 hours on a plane seems like a LOOONG time to me :rotfl2: .

All the day time flight talk has me laughing on the west coast. It's about the same amount of time for me to fly to London as it is to Tokyo. It's like the east coast to Hawaii, unless you reposition and stay the night in a hotel you are going to have an overnight flight, mostly because that's how they do them, at least out of SEA. I'm not going to reposition and add a hotel night when I can fly non stop to get there. I did to come home, but it's just a really long day of flying, not overnight.

I think 7 hours is a long flight even though we went to Japan and that was 12 lol

I didn’t realize the Hard Rock was having a refurb. It doesn’t mention it anywhere on their website but I read some reviews about it. Hopefully it isn’t too bad
I'm not sure the refurb is happening now. I may be wrong about that.

so what services (if any) do y'all use to keep track of points programs, usage, exp. dates etc? I'm seeing one pop up from a FB travel group I'm in (not sure if I'm allowed to name anything here) and wondering if I should be inputting so much info,is it reliable etc? concerned about security I guess.

I just keep a spreadsheet and update it every week as needed. I also would have security concerns.

Same -- I rarely get any decent sleep on planes (minus EVA coming home from Taipei, when I slept for 7 hours, but I am certain that the cold meds the pharmacist at the Singapore airport gave me were a contributing factor ).

I would choose the daytime flight to London again and again -- it's a game changer.

Same. It's around 12 hours for us, so 7 sounds really short and easy to me. A daytime flight isn't an option from the west coast.

7 hours is kind of awkward as an overnight flight because you don’t really get enough time to actually fall asleep with the meal service

Not an expert - but have getting these in between Chase Cards. (AMEX mostly hates us too).
Me - March Triple Cash, April Biz Alt Connect and October Triple Cash again
DH - July Triple Cash, August Biz Alt Connect and November Trip Cash again.

All with high credit limits.
applied for the Alt Connect Biz, I didn't get instant approval. Did you ever have that issue? I can't remember, when I got the Triple Cash if it was instant.

answered my own question. I did get instant approval for Triple Cash. I am concerned now.
