The next card that I planned was the AmEx Cdn personal platinum. I was going to use it to pay dd's tuition and part of her residence (via Plastiq). However AmEx recently dropped the SUB to an all-time low of 25,000 MRs. It used to hover around 60,000 MRs. No way will I sign up with such a low SUB. I may need to research another card just in case it doesn't go up. It's nice that AmEx will transfer US MRs to Cdn at the current exchange rate, so I'd be looking at a 35% bonus from my US account. Hopefully by the time the extended MSR ends (June 30th) the SUB will go back up.

Does Hyatt post referral points in between statements? I just received a referral and I was backdated to my May statement, I’ve already received my points for the June statement too.

If I wanted to get a Chase Hotel credit card for specifically getting the sign up bonus / transfer UR pts and staying with walking distance to Disneyland would you recommend the Marriot or IHG card. We don't care about staying at the fanciest hotel, so something like Holiday Inn would be fine (if IHG). My next card will lock me at 5/24. Currently have a SW card, CSP, CFU, and Alaska. Wife is working on CSP MSR and then going referring her to SW. We plan to get APs for DL once things open up and trying minimize travel expenses so we can take several trips from Oregon.

I'd consider the hyatt card. The hyatt house is within walking distance and has free breakfast for everyone. Stayed there in March and it was an easy walk to the park. It's on harbor and almost katella, the Walgreens on the corner is right next door. You can also transfer ur to the card and it comes with a cat 4 free night cert at the anniversary that can also be used at that hyatt house.

We were at Disneyland at the end of February, we stayed at Hyatt Place about 8/10th of away on Harbor Blvd, I was there for a work conference and when that ended we moved over to Fairfield inn and we really liked the proximity to the entrance, that one is still at Cat 5 so the FNC can be used there. If the SUB is 100k I would go with Marriott since that will get you 3 nights. I can’t comment on IHG but if the SUB will get you more than 3 nights I would probably go with that.

ETA: I agree with afan, Hyatt is also a good option. Since you’ll be at 5/24 you could try modified double dip.

My only reservation about the Hyatt is that it does not appear that they have a no fee card I can downgrade too. Do the have one that is not listed?

Right now the IHG has a 140k signup bonus with $4k spend in 3 months. I would think that is more than 3 nights at one of the Holiday Inns near the park.

All Hyatt cards have fees, we include credit fees in our travel budget. I budget a certain amount for travel every month and just deduct the fees from that budget line.

They don't but you get a free night cert good at a cat 4 or lower on your anniversary each year which more than offsets the ad when you use it. I've used mine at the hyatt centric in SF at fishermans wharf but they've upped it to a cat 5 but that shows the value I was able to get. And then at the one in anaheim. Haven't figured out what I'll do with my current one that expires in May. But most people are able to use it at a property that's more than the af.

I bought $2000 in visa gift cards this month for $1977 and earned about 10,000 URs. I did spend $2 converting those to money orders. Didn't make any special trips. This should help replenish my UR stash since I'm going to erase $1500 in Disney gift card purchases I bought at Kroger this month. Still should have about 270K URs left.

Very Nice...I finally ventured out to Staples for the Visa gift cards when they were fee free and converted $4k to Serve...Already erased whatever I could with my CRS...and had Chase transfer to my savings account....will Probably continue to do so until 9/30
After DH walked about outside here for a bit with a mask, he will not go to WDW and wear one, so will have to wait and see how to get a refund on our APs :(

It seems that in July Marriott will be depositing “credit for night stays” up to 1/2 of your current tier status. I made titanium last year and got an extra 40,000 FNC. With my timeshare stays, I should make it pretty easily again this year. I generally haven’t made very good use of my FNCs and cancelled my my Marriott Amex business card last month. We are down in Wisconsin Dells this week and used 3 certs for friends to join us. I’m seriously sorry I cancelled that card now.
This wouldn't open for me, but seems to me I've heard it elsewhere. Just haven't read it from Marriott yet.

So if I'm gold and have 38 nights, does that mean I would get more nights added in July? Didn't they already give some of us credit for 2 credit cards at 15 nights this year? (I think that's how I got 30 of my nights!)

I have been mortgage free for years and totally debt free for about a year and a half. Both my score and DH's score hover around 830. I am not sure about the immediate effect to our scores right after our mortgage was paid off. That was more than a few years ago, when easy access to credit scores was not available online. I don't think it had a big effect because we were able to lease and/or finance cars without a problem.

Well, I can tell you what getting a car in November did to my score. I did a short term finance to get my car while switching some money around. Kept the loan for about 4 months before paying it off. Bought car in November with 850 score. By January I was 836, then it crawled back up to 850 a few points per month until April.
So now I'm wondering if paying off will drop my score again? Obviously I don't care but it's curious to me how this all works.

You've got some good answers. First of, all 3 cards mentioned, IHG, Marriott, Hyatt are keepers because the free night off sets the annual fee and then some. The Hyatt has a decent sign up opportunity right now, with a two tier sub. 25k for 3k spend in 3 months and if you can do it, an additional 25K for 3k more spend in the 3 months following. That's better than the 30K I got when I signed up. It makes me want to close my card and reapply.

I'm not at all familiar with the Disneyland hotel choices, but I am familiar with all three hotel programs. Transferring UR's to Hyatt is as good as it gets. I wouldn't waste UR's on either IHG or Marriott - not enough value in the transfer.

However, IHG points can be purchased fairly cheaply from time to time, so occasionally I've done that.

The value in the Marriott option is pretty much the free night and the sign up bonus.

Since you asked about transferring UR's, the Hyatt card is best overall.

But, if you have the spend, grab a couple of them with a double dip.

For Marriott SUB there is another thing to consider. Chase and Amex both issue Marriott cards, but there are rules about what you can have. I do find Marriott blocks FNC redemptions far more often than IHG and Hyatt.

One more thing: 50k Hyatt points is as good or better than 100K Marriott or 140K IHG.

I feel your pain:charac2: it makes me so bitter that FM isn't considered grocery! It's the reason I don't do BCP since that's where 80%of my grocery shopping goes. I have 3 Safeway closer than FM but one pretty much has a hobo camp out front, none of them ever have a reasonable amount of checkers, and their sales prices frequently don't ring in correctly so you have to watch like a hawk to make sure your not being charged like 8$for that brick of cheese that should have been $4!

I needed to get that off my chest. 😂
Fred’s as in Fred Meyer? If that’s the case I won’t upgrade my card. I currently use Chase at Fred Meyer.

Our refinancing keeps getting pushed back so we still haven’t applied for a new card yet. Hopefully it doesn’t get pushed back again. It’s currently at July 10 and was supposed to be June 17
What's the reasoning? We are supposed to close next week...our rate lock expires on june 29.

I can't figure out the pass either. But I did get the spend $25 get $20 off coupon which you can use twice this month. We got Mod pizza last night and today I'll probably get the kids Chipotle. Those two should use up my $15 platinum credit.

I do notice that what's available/available for pick up changes constantly so it is hard to plan. Blaze Pizza has been availalbe for pick up the last few months but yesterday it wasn't. And between the tip, delivery fee, and service fee, it costs > $10 to get delivery.
I never saw the $30 offer but I just signed up for the pass and the $30 was in my account!.

If I'm interpreting your numbers correctly, you're saying you've had 8 actual nights spent at Marriott this year and 30 nights from two credit cards? I think you're set. You should get 13 elite nights credit at the end of July for being Gold, which will take you to 51 nights and you'll be Platinum until Feb 2022. That's how the bloggers are interpreting it. DH is in the same position as you but he'll need to stay 7 nights sometime this year to get to Platinum through Feb 2022.
