Yahoo, I lost my 1st 5 and I'm so excited!! Thanks to everyone here for all the great info and encouragement and motivation!
I have been cutting back on my carbs drastically for almost 2 weeks. I started out doing Atkins induction very faithfully for the first few days and have stayed under 20 carbs most of the rest of the days in the 2 weeks, but there were some days when we were out and I didn't stay under the 20 but I am still happy with how well this seems to be working for me so far. I can't believe how many carbs I was eating before. I have been a label reader for quite a while but I used to look at fat and fiber content, now I am mainly looking at carb content and sometimes I am really shocked at how many carbs are in some foods!
I started reading the Atkins book yesterday and it is very interesting. I also just ordered the South Beach Diet book through an offer I received in the mail from Prevention magazine. I am curious to see what the similarities and differences are.
I have been very busy lately and haven't been able to exercise faithfully but hopefully I'll do better with that starting this week! I would love to lose the next 5 pounds by the time I go away for the weekend with some girlfriends on August 15. Hopefully if I keep watching my carb intake and start exercising more I'll make it!

Isn't the first clippie change SO EXCITING!!! It's like you suddenly realize, "I'm really losing weight, I can really do this, WOW!" Good for you!
CONGRATULATIONS!!! 
and I hope that didn't blow things too badly! It smelled so good and I was just going to try 1 bite which unfortunately turned into quite a few bites. I guess that taste for sweets wasn't as buried as I thought it was. Well at least it was fruit and not a bag of sugary candy LOL. I now vow to do better!!
