but I really miss the "old" Disney before they updated it and put all the thrill rides in. I know they were trying really hard to answer the majority demographic and competing with Universal but our latest trip last month proved a bit of a disappointment to me. I hadn't been there in 15 years and was really hoping to capture the great feelings I had back in my late teens/early 20's

I loved the old rides at Epcot - the ones that made you think and showed you the creativity of the imagineers - however, now they are fast and thrill-seeking. Unfortunately, I can't stomach that kind of amusement. I have poor health and I lose my balance too quickly. Yes, Disneyworld is still an amazing place to visit but I really felt like I was sitting on the bench for the most time since I can't go on most of these newer attractions. It was a waste for me. If you are disabled or have poor health concerns or are prone to dizziness or nauseau you can't go on 50% of the rides. I did get brave and go on a few and sure enough, I got sick.
I know I am the minority on this issue...everyone loves Disney the way it is - updated and fast - but I miss the kinder/gentler rides. There weren't as many accidents and deaths before as well. Not saying that is Disney's fault but one can't help noticing it.

When I went years ago, I planned trips 3 years in a row consequetively - that's how excited I was to go back. With this past trip, I am content on not going back so soon...

I guess I'm alone but I'd rather have pre-1995 Disney back.

I do agree with you. I still love how Disney is now but I miss the creativity of a lot of the older rides like the old Journey into Imagination, World of Motion, etc. But of course that was my childhood as I'm sure kids that go there now when they grow up will wish it was the same as when they went as kids/teenagers. My 5 most favorite rides at WDW has none of the newer rides in it, but I do enjoy them. As many slow, dark rides as there are I wish there were more (and not just geared towards small kids) for the whole family as my Dad has to sit out on a lot of rides we go on. But I guess the thrills is what brings a lot of families and teenagers in as I see tons of 4-9 year olds on ToT and rides similar (rides I would have never gone on as a child even though I love them now). I'm just glad I have a decent memory of the older WDW that some people will never get the chance to experience.
