I'm needing some advice from someone besides my "NON-Disney" friends and family, who just don't understand my love for Disney. LOL

Me & My family (DH, DD 6, DD 2) have been to DW the past two Octobers - in 2008 we did the Land & Sea Pkg. Last year, sort of spur of the moment, the family went down for the ToT 13K. (I've took up running - which helps me get to Disney :) I am going to disney in three weeks (By myself) for the Princess Half Marathon - I didn't think it was wise to take DD 6 out of school again for Disney trip.

Well, I found out yesterday that SW has r/t flights to Orlando for a total of $99.40 per person from our local airport, and they are available during DD 6's Spring Break. We can go for four nights (and get three of them for the 30% off). If we do this, it will only be me & my two daughters (one will be 6 1/2, and the other will be 3 in May).

This is not something that I have budgeted for - like most our trips. But, I think I can swing it, and I'll only miss 2 days from work. My DH doesn't care if we go, but I don't have long to think a/b it - SW rate is only good through tomorrow.

I just need any suggestions. I keep telling myself we are in a recession, but I have a good job with decent money ... etc. Who knows what tomorrow holds, and might as well do it while I can.

Thanks

I'd say go for it if you think you can swing it...

I'd love to take a girls-only trip with my daughters some day, :)

My only question though is, who's going to watch dd's while you're running the marathon?

I would definitely do it. DD#2 won't need a ticket and with airfare like that it's a great deal. I do believe in saving for the future, but sometimes living in the moment and making memories for your family is...priceless. :)

Sorry - I'm going in three weeks to DW by myself.

The trip with my daughters would be toward the end of April - so two trips to Disney in two months for me :)

If you can swing it I would go... I know I would be on a flight right now to Disney if Dh was working more hours!

you only live once and they're only little once! if you can afford it, go...no one knows what tomorrow may hold!

Sha-la-la-la-la-la live for today...

I would go and have a good time with my kids...party:

I did something like this last June. Surprised my DD with it. We only went for two days ( visiting family in FL ) but she LOVED it.

DO IT!!!

Have a great time with the girls and take a bunch of pictures.

If you can afford it- stimulate the economy! Think of it as helping get us out of the recession one trip at a time...;)

I say go for it! As far as reasoning "Oh, we are in a recession" some people may be hurting, but as cold as it sounds that is when those who are not hurting get the great deals! Take advantage of the discounts while you can, in a year or two they will be much more scarce, and we may be the ones looking for new/better employment.

I'm with everyone else here! If you can swing it, then don't worry about what your other 'non-loving' Disney friends and family say! It's your life, your job--you and your DH work for that money--it shouldn't matter how YOU decide to spend it!! Go for it, have a great time, and like a PP said...if someone should question you on it, tell them you are actually helping the economy out ;-)

Part of the reason we are in a recession is because people know we are in a recession and aren't spending as much. If you can afford it, I definately say go! You'll have a great time, and you'll be helping to save someone's job!

Oh I would love to do this, even just go with a couple of gf's! But its not in our budget!

If you can afford to go, do it, u never know what tomorrow will bring! If u wait for a rainy day it may never come so enjoy it while u have it!

Do it. I have and never regretted it. Life is short, enjoy.

If I could get that kind of airfare out of Providence, I would totally go! If you can afford to "keep the economy going", then do it!

This falls under what I like to call "Trickle Up" economics...

We should all be spending at least a little money every week on extras, as long as you can afford it and you are not incurring debt to make the purchase. The idea being if we all put a little bit more into the economy, we will recover that much faster.

I also like the idea of spending that money at local, independent businesses since they are the ones most at risk to go under. But, as a DIS-lover and DIS stock holder, I say go for it and give the business to SW and DIS. LOL

Have fun and enjoy making memories with your children!

my family doesnt "get it" either. We are taking our 5th trip this fall. Things might be tight.. and we are having to pinch to save to afford it. But the memories and moments we make on our trips are worth more to me than the money. Those can never be taken, lost or burned like physical treasures can be. I say if you can do it? GO. Your girls will always remember the time you spent with them!

Go have fun. If you were spending lots of money then I would have second thoughts about it. But this is a great deal so go. Have fun.
