I have always taken 2 changes of clothes for each of us each trip. In which i prefer to do this time as well(just incase it rains and we get wet or something). The last time i washed clothes in the middle of our trip(late at night). This time it is just me and dd6 so washing will be much harder. But i am so undecided on this trip since we have never been in the winter months. I know the normals are 51-74 when we are arriving there on feb 10th. But is 51 in florida real cool, will we be okay in shorts & t-shirt or maybe capris at night. Or should i prepare to bring long pants & sweatshirts for each night these will take up more room in suit case though. I am planning on having 1 carry on and 2 check-ins.

What do you do?

Where are you from? 51 is usually pretty cold to me! I would definately take jeans. We are leaving tomorrow and I have sweatshirts and jeans packed for everyday, along with turtlenecks if needed or just long sleeved shirts if too hot for sweatshirts.

If you are from a snowy state then 51 might be feeling nice! Although I would still take atleast one pair of pants!

Here is what I would do....I would pack one tshirt per day, one pair of shorts/capris and one pair of long pants. I would pack either one or two sweatshirts, or one coat.
Make sure your tshirts match both your long pants, and your shorts planned for that day. Try to stick to a neutral color theme. The I would pack several "extra tshirts" and maybe one extra pair of shorts, and one extra pair of pants.
This way you can dress according to the weather, and not have to pack 3 different outfits for each day.
I would plan on doing one small load of laundry mid week. It may be hard with your DD, but maybe you can fit in a swim between washing and drying a load.
Thats what I would do anyway.

Thanks for asking this question. We will also be arriving on 2/10 and I have been thinking about this.

I end up packing way more in the winter than I do in the summer, because the weather is pretty unpredictable. I usually pack one or two pairs of shorts, a few pairs of lightweight pants, and a pair or two of jeans in case it gets really chilly. Pack short sleeves and a couple of hoodies in case you need them.

Sometimes we do laundry and sometimes we don't, so I pack enough long pants to cover the trip. It won't kill me to wear khakis instead of shorts if it is 80 degrees.

We went last year in January and had unusually warm weather. Even with these warm temps, once the sun went down, it got pretty chilly some nights, especially around the lake at Epcot. Capris are a wonderful in-between. I would definitely try to pack things that you can mix & match & layer together. I heard from people last year who took heavy winter coats and gloves, but it all depends on your forecast. I highly recommend accuweather.com, where you can get a 15-day forecast that I have found to be pretty close, even that far out. Good luck!

I think you will find 51 in Florida is still pretty cool no matter where you are from. In October we had one day in the mid 60's and I thought hey I can handle that, well even wearing long sleaves and capris I ended up shopping for a sweatshirt in MGM because the wind was blowing and sun or no sun I was still cold. And I am from Michigan and used to the cold.

Also I would just do laundry once while swimming since it is right by the pool.

51 in FL will feel like 40 in the rest of the world.....

You'll probably be ok in a sweatshirt and shorts, depending on how cold natured you are.

thanks for the help, i have just been so undecided. I am used to going in june/july time. Thanks for the advice and help.

We just got back tonight and if going any time soon you'll want pants and Jackets! The wind was cold some of the time, beautiful other times. So back and forth, supposed to freeze there tonight, yet yesterday at epcot a tshirt and pants (shorts for some) was okay during the day!

We are going Feb 18th, here is my "plan" ( see what still fits the kids in the bins I just pulled out of the attic.

(1) Travel down in our warm clothes ( jeans, sweatshirts, layers) with shorts for all in the carryon just in case ( this will take some bulk out of the suitcases).

(2) Went in May last year ( easy pack....was hot, hot, very warm and then hot:rotfl: ) and employed this tip I learned on the Dis, then modified ***ZIPLOC BAG PACKING** Packed one out fit per day ( complete with socks/underwear) per person in bag marked with persons name and day of trip. Did not over pack! Had 3/4 back up bags just in case. Also had 3 dressy bags pperson since we were doing cruise also. Stepped out of shower each day and hubby and the girls were ready! No question, fighting, wearing matching outfits on different day .....it was :cloud9:

This trip only 1 dressy outfit per person ( am from New England) and will pack 7 outfits per person ( half capri based/half shorts) and 2 or 3 back up bags per person. Will also have a light jacket for everyone.

(3) Will do one quick laundry trip 1/2 way through ( one load whites/one others).

(4) Plan on purchasing at least 1 or 2 clothing items per person as needed and as souveniers.

And yes DH is packed in plastic too, thought I was crazypacking but  not dragging 15 suitcases into the airport and he liked how clean/organized the room stays (He does fill his bags himself, I have not totally dived off the
DIS deep end!

Have fun:thumbsup2
Hope this helps!
