A little clarification.

The Euro 2004 soccer tournament is being staged in Portugal. 16 countries from around Europe have qualified and played in 4 leagues of 4 teams. The top two teams qualify for the knock-out stages. England finished second in their group behind France and now play Portugal in the quarter-finals. We really have a chance of winning something for the first time since the World Cup in 1966. Hence we are getting a little bit excited this side of the pond

So what you are saying is that England is one of the final 8 teams left in the tournament at this point? That is great, if I am understanding it correctly.

I remember being in Italy during (I believe) World Cup play! It was WILD!!! Europeans do love their soccer (called football, no?)!
