I'm a terrible person because I am paying someone on Etsy to make our tie dye shirts for MVMCP. But I just don't have the time, patience or creativity. The designs I have seen look great and I want to make them for our family, but I'm not the best person to do it.

Has anyone else ever had someone on Etsy make shirts for your family? How did it go? Were they reasonably priced?

Technical Question: We have a DISign for our MVMCP "family logo" from a DIS member, just wondering, if I print those on iron-on transfers, can I put them on the back of our tie dye mickey shirts? Will they stay on nicely? Otherwise I might just save our logo for our luggage tags and door clings.

Yes, I did have a vendor from Etsy do our family shirts (can't remember her name??) but she did an amazing job and helped me to customize each shirt! The pictures were also pretty sweet from the day we all wore them :) I think I paid $20 per shirt with shipping? They were navy with a madras plaid Mickey head and had each of our names embriodered in red "Disney" letters under the head. We all wore tan pants/shirts/shorts with the shirts.

Enjoy your trip!

I am in process now of having a set of tye dye ones for our trip made. Can't wait to receive them. I don't remember right off hand what she charges, but when I figured the cost of buying shirts and paints and the time it would take me + the quality of hers versus the lack of quality of mine (LOL), I thought it was well worth the price.

I don't consider that terrible. :goodvibes I love the look of tie-dye but it just looks too messy for me. I'm sure if there's a way to goof, I'll do it! :lmao: One of these days I want to purchase some from Etsy.

I did try the bleach shirts though. Super easy and came out great! That's more my style. :rotfl:

Stalking your thread...:surfweb:

What sort of timeline did the person on Etsy give you? Can you tell me the name or PM it to me?

Thanks! :goodvibes

If you go to Etsy there were two people that I contacted about shirts. One was Pixie something and the other was SwirlySensations I think. At any rate, the timeline is 14 days per the listing, but I am sure if you talk to them you may be able to do a rush for a fee. The prices are quite reasonable too. Just search tie dye disney or tie dye mickey and you'll find lots!

We ordered our shirts on Etsy with SwirlySensations - the shirts were awesome and I thought they were reasonably priced.

We just complain about Etsy when they steal our graphic designs and overcharge people for them. :thumbsup2

I think ironing on your own design once you get your shirts would work. You should wash them first, though... just in case.

I don't know if we're not supposed to endorse Etsy folks, so PLEASE blast this post if it is an infraction! But here's a second for Swirly Sensations. Those girls are true peach pies--I ordered some tie dye dresses for my girls' birthdays and when they were out of the size I needed they went head over heels to accommodate--and their communication was fantastic. Tie dying is a lot of work--I did it for two of my girls' April birthdays this year--bought all of the procion dyes and soda ash and everything. But we made shirts with 36 1st and 3rd graders (craziness--but fun!) so the investment was different. To buy all those supplies for a one shot project? Then the labor and the rubber gloves and the rinsing and the washing (shall I go on?). Sometimes the purchase factor is way worth it!

You are not a terrible person.

Now, buying $25 mickey head shirts on Etsy when there are wonderfully generous people here to personalize darling disigns for people? That's perhaps a bit more blasphemous ;) Though I *did* consider doing that at first when the iron-on transfer thing seemed a little daunting to me. (Though some of those Etsy embroidered shirts are pretty cute). Now I'm addicted to this board and my husband might start to become truly concerned if I show him our family dining card one more time!

Had to share :)
