My return flight from Orlando is at 10:30 am. So, at 10:30 am the day before I can check-in on line. I get it. However, I don't plan on being anywhere near my resort at 10:30 am the day before I leave. Can I have my DH (who will be at home) check me in on-line and then just have my boarding passes printed when I arrive at MCO? Will that work?

Also, I have two flights (connecting ) on the way down. Do I need to check in separately for both flights? Or when I do the first one, will it do the second for me?

Yes you can do that. Just have him check you in. Go to the Kiosk and then reprint your pass. No problem.

If it's a connecting flight, once you check in at your starting location -- you and your luggage is checked in all the way to your destination. The only thing is if you're flying SW you will have to take the luck of the draw for your second flights' A, B, or C boarding pass... If you're flying another airline you don't have that detail to worry about.

So, if I check in for my first leg, Manchester to Baltimore, I can't check in and try to get an "A" pass for the second leg, Baltimore to Orlando? That kind of bums me out! I am, however, eligible for pre-boarding with my DS3. I am traveling alone this time with my sons who are 8, 6 and 3.

I hope I am able to get "A"'s for both flights.

Yes, you can, at least you can as long as you booked them all as one trip with connections, rather than as a series of separate trips. (People sometimes do that in certain situations to get extra RR credits, or to get around the Wright Amendment when flying thru Dallas.)

When you do the online checkin for your first outbound flight, all outbound segments of the trip will come up for checkin simultaneously, and you can check in for all of them at that time as long as they were booked as connections for a single itinerary and are all on the same day.

I have checked in 24 hrs out from the first flight segment many times, and have always been able to get my BP's for connections at the same time, even though they are a few hours outside the checkin window.

For around a year now (maybe longer) you get your boarding passes for all of your flights when you check-in the first time. No more getting in line after you get off your first flight to claim a boarding pass for the 2nd flight.

What is the "Wright Amendment"?

Wright Amendment is a law passed by Congress that limits flights from Dallas Love Field to from going beyond neighboring states. This was done while building (or shortly after completing) DFW Airport. Wright only allows flights from Love to interTexas, New Mexico, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Louisiana. The Shelby Amendment was added later to include Mississippi, Alabama and Kansas. And just this year Missouri was added.

Before Missouri was added, Missouri travelers would do the Oklahoma two-step or the Arkansas two-step to get to Dallas on Southwest. That is they would book a flight from say St. Louis to either Oklahoma City, Tulsa or Little Rock and then a flight from that city to Dallas. To do this successfully you had to pretty much carry on your luggage. If you had checked luggage you had to claim your luggage and then check-in again for your second flight, re-check your luggage, and then re-clear security. If you just carried on luggage, you just have to get off the plane, walk over to the counter and check-in for your next flight. Often you would even re-board the same plane you arrived one. Many times by booking two flights on Southwest you could fly from St. Louis to Dallas much cheaper than flying non-stop on American.
