but I can't seem to find out if the resort hotels have wheelchairs for use while you are there? I thought I remember seeing that they do.

If they do, would you need to call and request it to be there when you get off the ME bus? A dear friend of mine is having some health issues that will require her to have help getting around.

Thank you in advance for all your help!

Yes, they do. However, they are first come, first served and Cannot be Reserved. So if you want to be certain to have a wheelchair available upon your getting off ME, I would highly recommend renting one from an offsite company.

I would definitely go with the outside rental. The ones at the resorts are free, but they are first come first serve, so very possible they have don't one available. Also, they are usually in pretty rough shape, and sometimes if they do have them they are the extra large ones....which can be uncomfortable for a small person and harder to maneuver.

Thank you very much,
I was thinking it might just be easier for her to rent one.
Then it will be hers for the whole trip!

Where you probably read about it is in the disABILITIES FAQs thread.
Post 2 has information about wheelchairs and ECVs, including website links and phone numbers for off-site rental.

As was already mentioned, wheelchair at the resort cant be reserved ahead of time. There is no guarantee that any wheelchairs will be available at your resort, whether it will be in good condition or the correct size.
So, someone who really needs one should rent from offsite.
