Garden view is not parking lot view, that would be a standard view. If you got downgraded but were still charged for waterview then you'll need to get the refund. The Royal Rooms have 4 categories- standard, garden, water, and river views. PP's are correct that you do not have a balcony to sit and enjoy the view, all rooms have an exterior corridor. However, you can sit in the corridor and still enjoy the view. We got upgraded to a river view and had an amazing view every time we left the room and we would sit and relax in the corridor in the evenings. You may want to check the POR thread for more accurate information about the resort.

In all of our experiences with two reservations at same resort we have never had to move.
It is much easier for Disney to keep you in the same room because they do not have to totally clean the room like when a guest checks out and another one comes in.
Good luck in getting the room you want. Don't let it ruin your trip and ALWAYS check your confirmations.
