I asked about the AAA Preferred Plus membership deal where you earn 1000 points for every visit. She said the points will be posted after the promotion is over. She said the promotion end date will be indicated on the paperwork I received. I haven't received any paperwork yet.

I asked how to get a room upgrade at the Dolphin. She told me that the balcony and club level are both the same prices. If I have 1000 points, I can call Starwood 5 days prior to my trip and request an upgrade to either type of room for one night. I would rather request the club level!

I will have enough points to request an upgrade for my Dec 03 trip and will try to do that for 2 out of our 3 night stay.

that information is not correct. the points will post after each stay, not at the end of the promotion. it ends in June 2004, you can have 3 qualifying stays between now and then.

I signed up a few months ago and never got any paperwork. maybe it's because I am already SPG gold. not sure.

I hope so! Have you ever requested an upgrade with points and not get it? Also, what does club level offer? Thank you so much!

Club Level offers breakfest 7a-10a. Small boxed cereals, milk, oj, apple juice, pastry, bagels, breads, eng. muffins, blueberry muffins, bran muffins, crossants, yogurt, fruit, coffee, tea and condiments. Club Level opens in the evening 5p-7:30p. they serve vegi.'s and dip, cheese and crackers, one hot hordurve, several varieties of cookies and beverages. Club Level is open until 9:30 serving beverages (and sometimes cookies) Hope this helps!

yeah, what she said :teeth:

I haven't used points to upgrade, but I might this trip. I do love my balcony, and the CL desn't have any rooms with balconies....

So...is the AAA status of 1,000 SPG points per night for CL better than the Gold status of 1,500 per night?

I can not believe that the balcony view is the same as club level - I would think that club level is more money!

the point level you are charged for an upgrade depends on who you talk to on what day of the week. I have read that people are charged 1000, 1250, and 1500 points for club level upgrades. It is not a difference between preferred plus (AAA), gold or platinum benefits. It has to do with whether you call Starwood or the S/D more than anything.

for some people, the resort view with a balcony ispreferable to the club level. the S/D club level is nice, but it is certainly not the be all, end all thrill all time :) I have never stay on the concierge level at a WDW resort, but from what I understand, it is a totally different experience. We enjoy our stays on club level, but it purely for convenience...I would much rather have that resort view. JMO. Actually, I would like to have that view with CL priveleges. I don't think tht is available anymore, though.

for the Dolphin in November....should I call Starwood or the Dolphin directly to "cash" in my points for an upgrade? I know you can use both but anyone have any suggestions on which is better? I know that Starwood usually says "1,000" for CL and that the Dolphin is where you can get everything from the 1,000 to 1,500.

Suggestions? THANKS!
