My sister asked me to fax her resume to a company. There were supposed to be three pages...the cover sheet, the recommendation from the employment commission, and her resume.

What it wasn't supposed to include was a Halloween coloring page from the "Over the Hedge" DVD, albeit a cute one.

So is there any way to fix this without the potential employer thinking my sister is a freak? I thought about calling them in the morning (no one's there now) or should I just let it go and hope for someone with a sense of humor?

Oops.... :rotfl:
Have you told your sister?? Maybe just refax the info sans the coloring sheet?

awful but funny .... :rotfl:

I would guess that the fax would probably be received by an admin assistant (unless it is a very small company), not by anyone involved in the hiring process. You could call and see if you can find the person who received the fax and apologize -- most likely they'll be amused. But ... I would guess that the assistant who receives it will be able to figure out what happened on their own & it won't be a big deal!

I haven't told my sister yet. But I did refax the information. I was hoping that would make it look more like an innocent mistake as opposed to being a complete weirdo.

There's a chance they won't even know it came from you. In most of the offices I've been in the faxes pile up on the machine and it's sometimes hard to tell where one starts and the other one ends.

Or maybe you'll luck out and find that the interviewer really loves Over the Hedge!

I don't think it will be that big of a deal.

Look at the bright side... it will definitely make her resume stick out from the other ones :teeth:

If she was applying for a position with a rival animation studio, you are up a creek. :rotfl2:

Oddly enough, she does have a degree in computer animation...but this wasn't that kind of job. Thank goodness!

:rotfl:

Like someone else said, whoever got the fax probably just thought some faxes got mixed together. Believe me, people really do fax that kind of stuff for real, my DH faxes to me at work my DS5's homework sheets sometimes when they can't figure out what the homework is supposed to be.

Does she have that on her resume? Maybe they will just think she's sending in a sample of what she's done in other jobs. :rotfl2:

Yes, she does...I'm doomed...

I agree that they may not even know that the picture came with your sister's resume. In most places I have seen they just let the faxes pile up so they won't know if it came with yours or the one after it. If they do know it's yours hopefully they have a good sense of humor! I know you probably don't think this is funny, but that just cracks me up! :rotfl:

I once mailed my daughter's field trip permission slip to the electric company, and sent dd to school with a letter informing them that we were moving on such-and-such date, and to please terminate our service at that time!

Everyone understood and had a good laugh over the mixup. I think that if you call tomorrow and explain what happened, it will be fine.

And if it isn't fine - well, does your sister want to work for a company that can't forgive a simple mistake like that?

If you did a cover sheet, you probably put the number of pages being faxed (including the cover sheet). That number wouldn't have included the coloring sheet. You're probably okay!

If I worked in HR and someone faxed me a coloring sheet along with their resume I'd be grabbing my colored pencils and hiring them right away (under the condition they bring more coloring pages, of course!! :thumbsup2 )

Seconded.

This is under the assumption that the coloring sheet was stuck on the bottom and the last piece faxed.

It wasn't in the middle, like right behind the cover page was it???

I think you will be fine! :)

You will be fine. Our faxes pile up until our office clerk looks at them and distributes them.

Would she want to work for a company that was too straight laced to understand? You got to have a sense of humor to survive out there!
