My poor 7 year old DD was just told on Monday that her legs are not doing well out of her leg braces(they gave her 2 months to see how the muscles and ligaments would do) and they will need to go back on at least for another year. She is having a new set made on Monday and they need to be fitted and on her feet for our trip to Disney on 11-24-02 which she has no idea about. She cried all the way home from the Dr's office so I hope the suprise trip will make it all better for her.

I guess I would cry all the way home if I were her too. To a seven year old, a year is forever. But, a trip to WDW makes anything seem better, so I think she will do fine.
Here's some Feel Better Pixie Dust with a little Make the Trip a Good one Pixie Dust thrown in for good measure.

Thanks for the Pixie dust Sue she is just so upset because she thought she had finally won and now she feels like a failure. Which we have talked about.

Even to an adult, hearing you had to wear leg braces for a year would seem daunting. Poor little girl! I'm so glad you're able to surprise her with a trip to Disney. There are kids who'd put up with leg braces for a year just to get a Disney trip. Do you have special plans for how you're telling her?

Well the plan is that we are staying at a hotel the night before we fly out as we have a very early morning flight, so we will be doing Thanksgiving dinner on that night with my grandparents just a few days early and my aunt and her boyfriend, and during dinner they are going to tell them how much they will miss them when the go woosh on the plane to Disney World in the morning.

Sorry to hear that she is disappointed that the braces will have to remain for an additional year.

Have a great trip... I just know that the trip will lift her spirits.
Best wishes!

Oh I wish so much she hadn't received the bad news. But, disney should do the trick to brighten her smile.

I hope the trip rains Pixie Dust on her.:jester:

Sorry to hear your DD faces another year. :( I hope your trip helps distract her (& you) from the disappointment.

As for breaking the news.... our little ones won't sleep when they know about something exciting coming up, so we told them we were going to Florida (period.) As we were driving in the entrance, they started to notice Disney signs, the MGM watertower, etc., and figured out we were there about 10 minutes before we got to our hotel. They were still high from the initial dose of adrenaline when we hit the park! It was a lot of trouble to keep it quiet, but worth the looks on their faces when they realized they weren't dreaming!

Some pixie dust for you both:*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
