Oh I am sure I got paid VERY little for the brands I sold and they still didn't buy many name brand things, I will likely donate a bunch, but I WAY over shop for my DD and keep meaning to list on ebay and never do so I took the easy way out

You might check to see if any of your local churches or civic organizations do a semi-annual consignment sale for your outgrown / barely worn stuff.

They are very popular around here, and I have sold at the biggest one in town for over a decade now. It takes some prep work, but I made almost $500 this past spring, and only about half of what I sold was name brand. The rest was store brand in very good condition. They keep 30% plus $5 for advertising/admin, and I get 70% of the money back. It's very lucrative and much less hassle than ebay.

It's certainly worth a look...

I just did a local consignment sale in our town. The lady holds it twice a year. I took 324 items to sell. Sold 80% of it and made $379!! Most of my stuff was priced less than $5. I did get a 70% cut. Normal cut is 60% but I volunteered to work 2 shifts (actually DS14 did one shift- break down the sale). Last October I made $600. That sale I did have tons of toys and a stroller that all sold.

I don't go near OUAC- they hardly pay-- too picky and their stuff is yuck!

Yeah my Disney savings just jumped up $100!

I had a busy day clearing our clutter/unwanted items yesterday. I saw an add for a new store that buys used name brand clothes in a small town near us. After hearing how Plato’s Closet does not pay very much I debated if this store would be any better. I brought in a bag of jeans that did not sell in our rummage sale, most were Silver and a couple BKE and Hollister. I figured out how much I had priced them at our rummage sale and had a price set in my head of what I was willing to take. I was so happy when she offered me $10 over that price. I got $55 for the bag of jeans. Not bad for thinking about donating. After that I cashed in a couple bags of cans, only amounted to $7 but now they are not in the garage. I also had a lottery ticket I won $9 on so that got cashed in then I brought my change jar to the bank even thought it was no where near full it had over $37 in it.

I have $20 in Target $5 gc and a 5% off pharmacy coupon.

This is so much fun I think I might have to see what else I can sell. Maybe I will try some of the kids clothes at OUAC.

I got signed up for the really big August sale about 3 wks ago, and am waiting for the sign-ups for the later sale at one of the big churches here. Since I have one leaving middle school, I have a ton of great uniform clothes to sell, which is a big money maker here. The other one grew out of a size of middle school unis as well, so I should have a good fall sale season. Unfortunately, the younger one is sized completely differently from his older brother (per wrist x-rays, the younger one will be about 6'3" like my bro and the older one will be about 5'8" like his dad), so I can't hand down a thing.

Of course, for the first time in years I have to put our older son in "regular" clothes for high school. Not looking forward to that. I loved just having a ton of polos and khakis for him to wear.

Not only that, but OUAC overprices their clothes. So they pay you a teeny amount and charge almost the brand new price. I can't stand that store. I do the 2 times a year sale "Just between friends" here in central IN.

I brought a small basket of clothes to OUAC yesterday and made $14 and had over 1/2 the stuff still in the basket. I added up the prices I had on it from my rummage sale and thought I would only be offered $7 if they took all of it. I guess they really wanted a couple of the items. I was happy.

Wonder what I would have gotten for the 3 bags of really nice stuff I gave to a friend.
Not sure if it was partly because it was grade school age clothes and not baby.

I use a local consignment shop in my area and made $59 from the sale of clothes my DD never wore (tags still on, but could not return to the store 2 years later) or were slightly worn.

Check out your town or the closest large town next to you on Facebook. Many towns now have a virtual yard sale. If you are uncomfortable with people coming to your home, many people leave their items in the mailbox and people use the honor system in leave the $ in the mailbox or at front door. I have done very well.

This!! Yes!! In the past 14 months I have put away over $1800 for our trip using only FB boards and really minimal time and effort. My goal was to pay for the entire trip...it's going to be close!! Woooohoo!! I schedule meets on my way to/from work at a busy shopping plaza so I'm not going out of my way or inviting strangers to my home and we will have another yard sale in a few weeks to unload what I haven't been able to sell online. Some people pay ridiculous amounts for used goods on these sites- I was floored, as I'm used to yard sale prices - buck here, quarter there - when I saw the listing prices of most stuff, I was all over it! Happy selling!
