One piece of advise is start the job search early. With these econmic times you don't know how long you will be out of a job. I am not trying scare you anything. I am just speaking the truth. Be prepare to took something might think skills is not being best use for that my be only job you can found.

Pray that econcomy gets better.

Don't give up in founding a job you will found one. I did.

I'm so sorry, sweetie. I live in the Lansing area but unless you are looking for work in a law firm I can't hlep you. I sure wish that I could.

I hope you find something very soon.

I've been there and I have a good idea how bad it feels. Just remember that it's the way things are nowadays.

You might want to check with the temp firms. Those little jobs seem to tide a lot of people over plus you can often find someone who'll hire you permanently. Good luck!

You all really do make people feel better :D I am an administrative assistant. My plans have been so far, ask everyone I know if they know of anything! I will go back to the temp agency if I need to, but I also will lose my health insurance. I'm not sure what to do about that! floridafam I'm off to check that link you gave! Thanks again everyone, I will keep you informed. I'm just so depressed and embarrassed. I'm trying really hard to stay positive. :(

We've been through this 3 this with DH in the last 4 years, so I know this is difficult. As for where to look, I really like the careerbuilder.com web site. It seems they have a ton of really good companies post jobs there. Since Lansing is the capitol, can you look into going to work for the state government? Usually they have a good benefits offering, but I realize those jobs can be harder to come by. You might look in the "insurance" listings for jobs, I've been in this industry for 15 years and have always been able to find work, no matter what part of the country I was in. I started as an admin and worked my way into a job I really love.

Curly Q,

Make sure you apply for unemployment to get you over the hump. I had to do it myself for the first time about a year and a half ago.

Along with the Lansing State Journal site, I suggest going to MSU to put in your resume (they keep it for six months). The office is on the same road as the MSU Credit Union south of Trowbridge Road. Checking into state government positions is also a good idea.

Good luck.

Thanks Doug. I will put my resume in at MSU. I have 2 friends there and one in a State office. Thanks again everyone.
