So we will be in Disneyland next weekend..and I thought well i'll just check out the Miley tickets on ebay to see what they are running.

I was so surprised at how many sellers have No bidders. It seems like they priced them so high that noone will buy them.

Also most of them had 2 tickets but you had to buy one then had the option of purchaseing the other at the same bid price.

Have they even mentioned if there will be party bags? And if so what some of the contents are?

I guess alot of people bought extra tickets hoping to sell for a bundle on ebay...not so sure how that is going to work out for them..hhhmmmmmmmmm...

WOAH thats really good to know.. A friend of mine was looking at tix on ebay as well. I'll call her right now and advise her not to.

How would the ticket taker know you aren't the original buyer? Do they have names on them or something?

You probably had to purchase it with a credit card, and that credit card would have to be presented at the gates along with your identification. Usually with a confirmation it has your card number bleeped out on it except the last 4 digits. They would be able to tell.

From that link, it looks like maybe the original purchase generated a confirmation letter that has to be presented? maybe they use the credit card info too.

Oh, I feel bad for the people who have made the mistake of buying off of eBay, but I am ecstatic to hear that some of the nasty price gougers that have taken over eBay are getting it stuck to them for a change.

Tickets were available for roughly 2 weeks before they sold out, so just about anyone who wanted to could have acquired tickets for this.

Disney deserves a lot of credit for this policy. Given what happens on ebay every other time a concert by this girl takes place, Disney is right on the money in making it very difficult for, quite frankly, greedy people trying to take advantage of others who would like to attend this party. Perhaps the best justice of all is that there are some people who bought these tickets solely to sell them who are now stuck with $250 tickets to an event they probably didn't care about.

Considering eBay seems to try and ensure people get what they pay for, hopefully they will make sure people get refunds if they buy the tickets on eBay and aren't able to collect them.

If you purchased the tickets, then yes, Disney should have all the information they need to regulate distribution as the story says. The only way I can see the sellers getting the tickets to the people who buy is if they go to Disney, pick up the tickets, then give them to the people they sold them to before getting to the gate. I didn't see where they were making sure the people stayed together from getting the tickets to getting inside the park, nor that the ticket-takers will be also checking IDs... May have missed that.

But how many people selling on eBay will go to the parks that day, and how do they know they won't still be caught some way or another.

I am curious to see what the sellers have to say. I am gonna email one of them to see what kind of response I get. Im gonna ask them questions as to if we need ID and a confirmation.

Sersiously it doesnt matter where you purchase these tickets your gonna find out at that time that you need your credit card and ID to receive them.

And if each person had only bought what they intended to use, it seems they would have been available for 3 or even 4 weeks! Didn't quite sell like hotcakes, did they? :upsidedow

From what I understand, the person who originally purchased the tickets will go to Disneyland and show the proper id and get the tickets. They will then meet the buyer from their ebay auction and hand over the tickets to the buyer so they can then go into the private party. So you only need to show id to pick up the tickets.

Won't work.

After picking up the tickets, the ticket holders are escorted individually into the park by an attendant to make sure they don't pass the tickets to another individual.

Disneyland has it all covered. Only the original ticket purchaser can use them - although admittedly, if somebody purchased four tickets, they could sell off three of them and then the people who purchased them can then enter the park with the original purchaser.

should someone tell ebay?

I have zero interest in the Miley b-day party - in fact, hopefully, I will be out of DLR, on the 5th, by the time everyone starts showing up for it. But I was just curious as to how this ticket thing works based on what everyone's posts say. Since the prices for the tickets are much higher than the normal Disney tickets or event tickets (such as the TOTP tix), are they taking extra precautions? Because if you buy someone else's TOTP eTickets or even their online eTicket Park Hoppers from eBay or wherever, you just bring the eTicket to the turnstile and the CM hands you a real ticket. They don't ask for ID or to see a credit card or anything. You don't have to go to a ticket booth or Will Call. So for the Miley b-day tickets, are they being extra careful in having everyone show ID and show a credit card upon arrival? Maybe it is a slightly different set-up?

So I'm looking at the FAQ page for her party on disneyland.com.

And it says that the purchaser of the tix has to be there with ID to pick up the tickets, and all members of the purchaser's party must be there as well. Then they will distribute the tickets. It does NOT state that the people will be escorted inside, and since people can pick up their tix as early as 2pm that day, per the FAQ, that might be a bit strange anyway (now get in there and stay!).

So if the purchaser picks them up, with all of their ebay bid winners, it would seem that they would be considered the purchaser's "party".

It states clearly that the purchaser does NOT have to attend the party!

It says that *everyone* has to leave at something like 5, then the ticket-holders will be granted entry or re-entry whichever is appropriate. So that means someone could pick the tix up at 2, but then not enter until entry is offered for the party specifically. It doesn't state that IDs will be checked for re-entry (and therefore, entry). And of course a purchaser could buy more than one ticket, and not everyone's names had to be listed I assume (since only the purchaser's ID is checked).

But this is a really fun line at the bottom of the FAQs.

"...all tickets to this event are currently sold out, and the sale or resale of tickets through any other web site or any other means is not authorized".

So anyone thinking of contacting ebay could include the link to the FAQs (though who knows if the ebay computers will deal with all of the graphics on the page...when people sent links to graphic-heavy things when I worked at amazon we couldn't see it sometimes and so couldn't help as specifically as people wanted us to help).

I doubt that ebay will do any recourse to the people selling the tickets, considering it has turned it's head on the whole issue of reselling/selling Fast Passes. Disney asked eBay to partner with them on putting an end to the Fast Pass scams and they refused on the grounds that it allows "historical media" to be sold.

Technically these aren't historical media yet, but by the time any action would be taken, they will be.....

ok so like I said out of curiosity I emailed ebay to see what the seller would say when I asked if they got the tickets early and if not how do we get them without having a confirmation.... this was the reply.....

Hello, I do not have the tickets yet. I have to go on the day of the event with the letter and other information to the will call.

I dunno everything about that response was very brief and not very detailed. Like how are we supposed to know who the seller is if we were to meet up with her/him at all at the park??? Like would she/he actually not show up and then say that you neve showed to meet up and collect the tickets??? I dunno, this could happen. I wouldnt trust it.

Wow..you all posted wonderful information here.. too bad it can't be attached to all those ebay auctions .. to save people some trouble that are bidding on those tickets.

I am always amazed at the information provided by members of this board. What a great online community!:goodvibes

personally i think it's great.. i don't like how greedy smurfs buy up tickets they won't use just to sell them at an escalated rate.

I wonder if they will have a big crowd at the event?

hhhmmmm...

Dont know about the crowd..but Disney called yesterday seeing when we were arriving to warn us about the hours and Miley's Party. Which is fine we'er only doing Downtown Disney and Goofy's Kitchen on the 5th anyway...who knows maybe Hannah will show up as one of the characters at dinner...lol
