I am so sorry for your loss. I have been in your same situation very recently. It's very hard whether they die at home or you have them put down. My other dog mourned for at least a month which didn't help my mourning. My heart goes out to you with all that you've had gone on.

One thing that I wanted to add was that after my brittany died we gathered photos and wrote favorite memories. I made a small photo album on shutterfly. I put in all of our favorite pic's thru the years, and I listed her favorite foods, nicknames, funny stories, heart warming memories, etc. It helped...alot

Am very sorry for your loss. They are family members, and it does hurt when they are gone. We lost our last 2 dogs, cocker spaniels, to cancer. Had to have the last one put to sleep. Within a year, we had to put down our last dog, Alaskan Malamute, she could no longer stand on her back legs due to hip dysplasia. It was difficult to deal with, but we cherish the wonderful times they brought to our lives. Now, my wife and I only recall the good memories with our dogs.
