I just got through watching Little Miss Sunshine

Man, now I have to check to see what his shirt says!!! :rotfl:

Ok, I may be TOTALY wrong about this... But I got from the movie that the guy with the freaky goatee/mustache biker looking guy at the pagaent was a pedophile...:confused3 Especially when he jumped and cheered after Olives performance. Which wouldn't surprise me why it would attract him since the little girls were made to look by there 'parents' like Miss America hopefulls from the 80's.

My daughter insisted I watch this (she is a movie buff) and I loved it! You need to find the deeper meaning that no matter how much dysfunction there is, if your family truly loves one another they will come together.
It was hysterical. Not for children though, due to Grand Pa's language. IMO.

Yes! Everytime I saw the pageant host I said ewwwwwwww..What a pedophile!

I just reread your post. You meant someone else! :happytv:
You may be right, we saw it twice and didn't get the biker guys role. hmmmmmm

Hmm...I saw the headphone in his ear and assumed he was listening to a game of some kind. And figured that something happened during the game to make him get up and cheer. I also figured he was related to someone in the pageant and had been dragged along and wasn't all that interested in what was going on--hence the headphone in his ear. Isn't it funny how people get totally different things out of the same movie?

I just love how shocked and appaled the pageant familes were at Olive's performance, but think dressing up their children to look the way they do with their heavy makeup, whorish outfits and airbrush tans are perfectly acceptable. This movie is fantastic.

My impression of him was that he was completely bored (and possibly even disgusted) with the whole pageant thing. Like he was dragged there. When he got up and cheered he was taking part in their mocking of the pageant.

This was my impression of him as well!
Did you notice how bored he was when Greg K. asked him if he had a daughter in the pageant?

A very smart flick on so many levels.
It's dark, but hilarious.
They're all lovable losers (aren't we all) while Kinnear was obsessed with creating winners. Brilliant.
I ached for them everytime they got in that van. And the horn!!!

This was seriously one of my favorite movies of the year. You definitely have to have a particular sense of humor to enjoy it though. Some people I know loved it and others thought it was awful. I love it though! And the grandfather was hysterical. His line about people his age being crazy to NOT do drugs was probably my favorite line of the whole movie :rotfl2: I also loved Steve Carrell's character, Frank. I really liked getting to see him in a more serious role. Yet, at the same time we still saw glimpses of his funny side. He's really great at that dead pan sort of humor.

Oh how can you forget about "the horn?"

we loved it too! We walked out of the theater going "wow!!" As soon as things slow down we are going to buy it and watch it again!:)

Ok you're all going to roar laughing at this. I watched it on the way down to Disney over someone's shoulder, they were watching it on a laptop. I thought it was great and a hoot. I can't wait to see it now and actually HEAR it LOL

Exactly. There have been several movies that were send-ups of the child beauty contest world. This is the first that wasn't in-your-face about the evils of painting children like adult women, but it was totally clear.

As for the biker, I assumed he was a pedophile - he even said he wasn't there to support anyone. The headphones were so he could watch without having to listen to the host. I didn't think the host was a pedophile, just a guy who bought into the "importance" of pageants and thought his role was important.

I, too, LOVED this movie. One of my favorite of the year for sure. It's funny about it, though, it seems to be the type of movie you either love or hate. I recommended it to a few people who thought I was nuts.:confused3

It's definitely on my list to watch again soon.

My sister brought this movie over on Xmas and thought it was ok for the kids to watch. Luckily my kids weren't interested and were in another room. I stopped counting at about the 20th f-word that was said, but atleast it was about the only bad word that was constantly said. It was pretty funny whenever they had to start the van with all of them jumping in, in order, with the horn stuck.
