:cool1::cool1::cool1: DH just OK'd a 2 week trip to WDW next August with FD. This will be booking WAAAAAAY in advance for me. Normally, booking in advance for us is about 2-3 months. We are usually last minute people.

I think I got him because we just came back from a trip to Myrtle Beach that neither one of us really enjoyed. We had to go for our DD's national finals and in the end we had only 4 vacation days out of being away for 10 days. We are used to having 8-10 actual vacation days so this didn't feel like a vacation at all. So last week when the new round of discounts came out I mentioned it to him and priced out a couple of different scenarios. He said it sounded good. So we are on. The only problem...but we have loads of time to decide...is which DDP we want and if we will stay at the same resort for the entire trip. My DD wants to do a split stay.....we will see when we get closer. Also, our older DD won't know if she can join us until next spring so I will include her in the ressie but she will have to decide by the time we book a flight.

Someone please sprinkle some pixie dust over DH.....he most likely will want to drive down....the girls and I do not. He needs to understand that being trapped at WDW without a car is a good thing. :wizard:

So now onto waiting for September 10...so that I can book. LOL...I have to wait for the next billing cycle on my CC. I have charged so much in the last month that I think they will burn my card. Seriously, I will feel better paying it off before I add anymore onto it.

Congrats! Its never to late to plan for a Disney trip IMHO!
We usually wait till the end of the year for the discounts to come out for Jan/Feb, so when they came out a week ago, we had to plan alot earlier! :yay:
A split stay is fun....also depends how long your planning to go for....As for driving, that's all we do....but we like taking our time to get there and have our car in case we want to leave the resort for any reason.....but mostly DH likes to sit back and let Disney's transportation take us everywhere. :thumbsup2

It'll be a 2 week stay so there will be plenty of time for a split stay. In fact we will be there going into Labour day weekend so there is the potential for an extra couple of days. So we will both be off work for 16 days  I can't tell you how thrilling that alone is for me. My job is stressful on a good day.

We have driven down a few times and it's just OK for me. I really don't like car trips but I guess as I've gotten older they have become easier to tolerate. DH, on the other hand, loves the road trip. Our recent trip to Myrtle Beach he drove the entire 17 hours straight home. We went from gas station to gas station, about 5 hours from one to the next. Every time we stopped I would offer to drive and he said no he was fine. I don't know how the guy does it. I'm fairly sure he will have a great arguement for driving to WDW next summer. I'm pretty sure that I can get flights from BUF for the same cost, or less, than driving. To me it makes no sense what so ever to put all that wear on my car when you can fly for the same amount of money. There is a price attached to what it does to the car. I sort of lose on that one since he works in the auto biz and when it comes to cars it's all no big deal.

I have a bad back, so driving is out of the question in our house...which is a blessing and a curse...
Sometimes I wish to be able to take a slow drive to our destinations and have that be part of the "vacation", kwim? Plus, the bonus is having your car at your disposal when you get there. But, not being able to drive that long gives me an out when I just can't face the thought of being trapped in a car that long!

Ohhhh....maybe I'll try that angle. I have bad knees and hips. DH knew that I was in pain coming home from Myrtle. I have to keep moving or things start to stiffen up.

It really is not part of the vacation for me and I don't really get that. It's just a neccessary evil. If it comes right down to it and it's either drive or don't go.....you know I'll be drivin'.
