Apparently there were some robberies in my neighborhood and they wanted a "(wo)man on the street" reaction. I knew nothing about it and sounded like a real idiot on camera. If anyone wants to see me make a fool of myslef, it was local news on channel 7 in Washington, DC area. Still pretty cool though, huh?

That is very cool. Your own 15 minutes of fame. lol ;)

When I was 7, my mom and I were walking down a street in Glendale, CA on an unusually hot day, and this reporter for the paper stopped us and asked my mom if he could take my pic opening a cold can of 7-Up (that he gave me) with one of those bank signs in the background that showed the temp.
The story was about the weather obviously.

She said yes and my pic was in the paper. :teeth: Sadly, that has been my biggest claim to fame thus far. :sad2: :rotfl:

BTW, hope they catch the robber soon!! :wizard:

Oh they got them already. It was 2 high school students (my DD14 goes to that school) who were playing hookey and robbing houses during the day.

I went to High School with a woman who is a news reporter in your area - I think - do you know Jane Watrel?

I never watch the news. I get all my news from the Liberal Thread on this board. :thumbsup2 (just kidding).

Actually, I hardly watch TV at all and still get most of my news from the newspapers. Maybe that's why I didn't know about the crime spree in my area. :confused3

As a newspaper employee, I thank you! :thumbsup2

Well, I am glad they caught them. That's just crazy though. :sad2:

That's why they were doing interviews in the neighborhood. I live in a very upscale area and this kind of thing just "isn't supposed to happen" here. I wonder where these kids were from. I live right near the high school, which is the "poorest" area to be zoned for this particular school so these kids either come from solidly middle class homes like mine or from homes with a whole lot more money. I wonder why they felt the need to rob anyone? I guess that's what the news people wondered too.

Did it already air? I'd love to see you on tv! :teeth:

I think it will be on the evening news BUT I don't know what time that is.

I TiVo'ed the 6PM news, but haven't watched it to see if you were on it. We were watching NBC local news because a friend of my 16yo shot the news coverage of a Gaithersburg house that had a house explosion/fire, so we were watching that news coverage live. When that station covered the news story about the 2 teens who did the house break-ins, I told my visiting mom and sister that someone from the DISboards was interviewed for a different station and I was TiVo'ing that news broadcast to see if it was being shown during that hour. They were very impressed that we "knew" people involved with news stories. :rotfl:

Just wanted to say howdy neighbor. I live near the golf course! Didn't realize that anyone lived that close (though if you look at my post count, you'll see that no one on here knows me anyhow). My kids are both alumni of that school...you and I both know that these kids were probably doing it for the "thrill" since there are so few who know what it means to be needy. I'm glad mine are out of that environment.
