A very small hand, smaller than a fingernail, was in my DD4's room. She says it goes to her Star Wars toy. She also has a giant Mr. Potato Head filled with food and dishes (not sure where the potato head parts are). On the way to her room, there is a bottle on a hallway nightlight. As I look towards the hallway, there is a child's blue chair next to the counter (the 1 yr old is trying to get markers to continue coloring the floor) and a mickey head bracelet on the floor. No matter how much I clean, I can't keep up with the toys. Should I continue picking up 24/7 or embrace the chaos? Or, better yet, let the children take over the house and build a small guest house in the back for DH and myself?

You just described my house. :) I give up during the week most of the time. LOL

Embrace the children, ignore the chaos and go to the spa when your husband gets home.

I LOVE the smiley!!! I just made myself a pink cake!! And, I'm going to let the children decorate it, so there will be frosting and sprinkles everwhere soon, too. :lmao:

Enjoy every little moment, because they will be grown before you know it.

The mess will be there tomorrow, but your babies won't.

Embrace the chaos. :goodvibes

Glad to know I am not the only ones who cleans all day and the house looks like I have never cleaned it ever!

Have a great Birthday!:cheer2:

We live with the chaos, but primarily restrict it to certain areas. I have friends that maintain designer homes. Their approach is to confiscate toys that aren't put away. The confiscated toys stay gone for a long time. The kids eventually learn or they have nothing left to leave out.

The 4 yr old was instructed to start cleaning her room and would come help when I was finished feeding the baby. I just checked on her and she is asleep in the middle of the mess with a my little pony teapot house next to her head (I know that house was on the shelf BEFORE she started cleaning). Picking up is hard work, I should know. :lmao:

The mess would probably bother me more if they weren't so darn cute :cutie:

I embrace the chaos...I clean....5 minutes later it is a mess again. I can't wait for them to outgrow the little toy phase!! DD is getting past it.

I know it is wrong - but I LOVE video games. They create NO CLUTTER!!!!

Sound the alarms, I have discovered the source of the mess. DD4 is now awake and found a small pony lollipop on the floor which she told me was left by aliens. She doesn't know how else it would have gotten there. Wait, it may have possible been left by her imaginary dragon named Princess. I'm glad to know that she isn't the messy one. I need to keep an eye out for aliens and invisible dragons, their messing up my house.:lmao:

I'm so glad it was the invisable dragon's fault. If only they would leave invisable messes! You just have to love their imaginations too. Enjoy it while you can.

I am thinking of running away myself , so let me know how much it cost to build that guest house :thumbsup2

We are leaving for Disney in a few days and I am trying to pack , clean , and make a list while my Grandbaby is unpacking everything and messing everything up as I clean it  I lubs that girl though

I say embrace the chaos - it doesn't last as long as you think it will.

When my DD was little there were always toys everywhere. Oh man, those little Barbie and Polly Pocket pieces drove me crazy! My DMIL (who is a neat freak by the way) told me to not worry about it because one day DD would grow up and I'd be sad when there weren't toys lying around anymore. You know what? She's right. My DD will be 12 in August and now she's into her cell phone, IPod and computer. There's hardly a toy to be seen. She sure is growing up fast.....

I used to get so stressed out over the mess. My house is really small and it didn't take much to make it look messy. One day I was complaining to my mom about it and she just said "There is clean dirt and there is dirty dirt". I always figured the toys were "clean dirt" and stopped worrying about it. Embrace the chaos! My children have outgrown toys and I miss finding the stray hand, head, or torso laying in the hallway.:rotfl:

I like that!

Lots of toys everywhere in our home. I swear they get around on their own!

But it's OK. It won't last.

I came home the other night, and one of my son's playmates (a girl) had opened up my old Barbie house, and my dolls were sitting on the 70s plastic couch in the living room, one dressed as a nurse and the other apparently getting ready for a movie premiere, complete with ballgown.

It was nice to see my toys in action again.

I was cleaning today and there in the middle of the floor....

I FOUND A HAND!!!
Belongs to Commander Cody from Clone Wars but I did start cracking up laughing as I had just replied to your thread!!!

My DH and I are convinced if we could get Idon'tknow and Ididn'tdoit to move out - our house would be immaculate!!!
