It is called "Rubber Neckers" and it is a card game that involves looking for items and even getting passengers in other cars to respond to you. A couple of the rules may be too complex for young kids, so you can tailor it to fit your needs.
For example, you get 5 points for a public phone but an extra 5 points if someone is using it. 5 points for getting someone in another vehicle to acknowledge your "OK" sign. You look for lots and lots of things like the last name of a US President, a smoke stack, station wagon, basketball court, etc.... Since it is a card game, it changes with each deal.
I found it at a shop in Indy but here is a website that also has it. It retails for $12.95. Search the site for Rubber Neckers or games. I think I found it in the Gifts for Travelerls section, under Unique Gifts.
