well, half the basement

I was doing laundry and didn't wait the 1 hour before starting another load, so the basin over filled and now there's water EVERYWHERE!!! i've used up all the towels in the house to mop it up, and its still not finished!!

Uh-oh. Do you have a wet/dry vac? DH flooded the garage once and finally had to borrow the neighbor's wet/dry vac to get it up. What a rotten way to spend the day.

Oh that stinks!
Hope the rest of your day turns out better!~

Something similar happened to us last year the day before we left for a weeks worth of camping. The drain hose wasn't connected properly when we moved in the month before and it eventually popped off. What a mess. We had a wet/dry vac and that sped things up a bit...then we put fans all over the basement.
Good luck.

I was thinking the same thing. Our washer empties into a double basin sink in the basement, and it drains within a minute or so.

Oh, except for the time that something blocked the drain - and in that case, it took a single load to overflow the sink. :)

Good thing we had a bunch of towels sitting in front of the sink waiting to be washed, they soaked it right up. heheheh

yeah, we only have a single sink basin and it takes FOREVER to drain. well, maybe not forever but at least 1/2 an hour.

anyways, the floor is finally water free. i look like i've been to a foam party though!

the average sink shouldn't take that long to drain..you might want to try to unclog the sink..there must be a partial blaockage...

how do you unblock it? does it matter if we have a septic tank?

do other sinks in your house take as long to drain...bathtub...???

if not then the problem is in the pipes for that sink...

no they all take drain pretty quickly, i guess its time to call the plumber!

YIKES! What a mess. Well, look at the bright side, mopping up water with towels burns lots of calories, you got an extra work out today ;)

plumbers a good idea unless your handy with tools.......drano could work, but my experience has been if the pipes are old it eats thru pipes....there are a few products available that unclog pipes using air pressure....... if other sinks draind quickly it quite possibly is the trap in that sink
