I hope I don't get flamed for this but I just don't know the answer to this question so I'm going to post it here.

We have purchased a 5night/6day stay at OKW in a studio from a DVC owner off of e-bay. He has e-mailed me and called me and told me that the reservation has switched to my name and that he will send me confirmation letter when he receives it. Now here is my question. If we wanted to switch over to a 1br villa and pay the difference, can that be done? If so, can I do that after I receive the confirmation letter or does he have to be the one to call them back? :confused3 TIA!

The member always retains control over the reservation. I don't believe you can upgrade by paying cash -- the reservation either is a cash reservation or a points reservation. The member would need to have the additional points (and OKW the room) for the change to be made.

I'm assuming that the Ebay seller has made the ressie on points, and if you wanted to upgrade your room, it would have to be done by using points.

So if you wanted to change to a 1 Bedroom, you'd have to call the Ebay seller & see if he can/will make the arrangements and how much he would charge.

I Hope This Helps!

It's a legit question mickeyluv. If you want to switch to a 1 bedroom (good choice !), you'll need to contact the person you're renting from. He/she will need to check for availability and then book it for you. You would pay the differerence in cost to that person you're renting from. I wouldn't think you'd need to wait for that confirmation letter since you'll be getting a new one for the 1 bedroom anyway.
I'm pretty sure this is how it works. I've never rented my points but I have rented from people on occasions.
Good luck getting that 1 bedroom :flower:

I would recommend being considerate of the owners time. I don't know what you are paying for the points or how much "profit" is there for the owner (with OKW possibly enough), but owners are generally private individuals renting their own points, not businesses who have invested in points to make money. One of the complaints we get from time to time here from people who rent their points is the number of phone calls they get from the rentee asking for changes to requests, etc.

Switching rooms does sound like a worthwhile thing - and I'd recommend you call. Its just an attitude difference.

BTW, the owner will need to have more points available to upgrade the reservation. If he doesn't, then he can't.

That was my other thing. I am a very considerate person (my husband says sometime too considerate) and I don't want to aggrevate anyone. I will probably stick to what we have. The other thing that crossed my mind was the fact that he put the studio accomodations up for auction on e-bay. He could have put up a 1br, but he didn't so maybe he doesn't want to use those points.

I don't think it hurts to make one call to ask about the one bedroom. Most renters want studios, so that may be why the owner decided to auction a studio rather than something bigger.

Best wishes -

I agree with Carol. Make the call and find out if there are more points available from him, and then have him check if there is a 1 bedroom available for the time you want to travel. There are lots of circumstances that could mean it would NOT be possible. One of these could be that the points are distressed points etc. You wont know unless you call and ask him.

I would call the e-bay person and ask. Alot of people on e-bay do this alot and would love to rent you more points. I haven't rented points or rented my points (I just got in the DVC computer yesterday) anyway... I did talk to a ebay renter once and she was more than willing to help. It would be worth a phone call to find out. Good Luck! :flower:

I agree, a call to check with your owner as to whether he/she has the points available is certainly not being intrusive.

They may have the points, they may not, but you won't know unless you call.

The person you rented from may be willing to change your reservation, but changing it depends on whether a not a 1-bd is available for the time you want it. If it's for a heavily-booked period, you may be out of luck. But it's definitely worth a try.

Sorry! I guess this aspect has been covered. That's what happens when you answer the phone and take too long when writing a reply.

At any rate, good luck!
