Just changed my ressie from YC ($334) to Swan/Dolphin ($169.50). It's a huge savings in price. Will I be disappointed? I love the YC but there are no AP discounts available and I can save $. Tell me why you love the Swan/Dolphin and do you have a preference. Tx in advance.

I think you made the right decision for the difference in price. The Swan/Dolphin is very nice but does lack a little bit of that Disney magic in its decor and general feel. As you know the location is pretty much the same.

We also did the same thing even though I can get an AP discount for our time there. The difference for us between Beach club and Swan was around $78.00 so we chose Swan because we also get starwood points and the Beds are so much better than the rest because they are the new Heavenly beds and perfect after coming from the parks and exhausted.

I heard they are doing away with resort fees but they still have them when we are there in July but we got a great government rate of $149 and could not pass it up.

Also you are in the same area as the yacht/beach club. Yes you will see more convention people here. The pool also is really really big and nice with a waterfall.

We wanted the Dolphin but it was not available for our dates so we opted for the Swan. Another downside of the Yacht and beach is that their pool closes around 8pm and we usually like to swim in the evenings so that was also a factor in choosing the Swan and Dolphin for us.

You will not be dissapointed. Have a Great time

Hi, I have stayed at every Disney Deluxe and I still really enjoy staying at the S/D. The location is fabulous, the service is great, and the beds are the best (except my own) Anyway - whenever we stay in the Epcot area, I prefer the S/D to the Disney hotels. They are beautifully decorated and don't lack any "magic" for me. I have almost ALWAYS seen conventioneers at the CR, and at the YC/BC, and even GF when we have stayed. It didn't make me feel awkward at all. Who cares what they're there for? :confused3

You got a great rate - enjoy your trip!! :flower:

I'm so glad to hear that you guys like the Swan. We are going to the Gulf coast beaches with a short stay at Disney at the end of our trip. We had ressies at Pop, but got the Nurse rate ($149/nite) at the Swan. Couldn't pass it up!!

You will love the Swan. We have stayed at Swan and Dolphin over the last 5 years every year in addition to Disney deluxe and moderate resorts and we always come back. :cool1:

Thanks for all your comments. I can't wait to try the Heavenly Beds! Last month we stayed at Pop Century and the bed was AWESOME. We were only there 4 nights. By the last night my back was so sore laying on that bed that I couldn't stand it. I was glad to be going home on Sun.

I don't care that we'll miss the Mickey wake up call (don't care for the new version with Stitch), Magic Express (wasn't going to use it anyway), but I WILL miss charging back to my room on my room key. It was great not having to carry cash to the parks except for a couple dollars for ice cream or drinks at carts. That part will stink but for the savings in price we'll put up with the hassle. I, too, had read about them discontinuing the resort fee. It is showing up on my ressie, but since we check in after July, maybe we won't get charged it when we get there.

I've stayed at all of the Epcot Resorts except for the Dolphin, and you won't be dissapointed AT ALL! The Swan has everything the others have (at least the obvious stuff). I've stayed there 3 times and I didn't ever feel like it wasn't as "Magical" as the others. I mean, ok - the others are a little more disney friendly with the Disney soaps and the little things like that - but the rooms at the Swan are VERY nice, the beds are UNBELIEVABLE (just a warning for you: You WON'T want to get out of bed the next morning after a long day of walking through the parks the day before). Like you said, the only thing you can't do is charge stuff to your room - small price to pay for the bigger discount on your stay - this way you can BUY MORE in the parks though :teeth: For the price difference, the little things that you don't get, really don't seem all that significant in the end (at least not for us). Have a GREAT time!

You also get early entry to the parks - that's a perk :).

There's plenty of magic at the Swan/Dolphin. I prefer the Swan since it's smaller and easier to get around, but the Dolphin has a much more impressive lobby. You are saving $150 per night. Think of all the fun things you can do with that money!

I was one of those people who thought that there wouldn't be the same Magic at the Swan/Dolphin that there was at the Disney owned resorts.....

Boy was I wrong!

One trip was all it took for me to feel the Magic at the Dolphin. Looking out my window over the Boardwalk, or out over the Tower of Terror - Sleeping in the Heavenly Beds - lounging by the Grotto pool (second only to SAB) walking in & out of Epcot & MGM, strolling around Crescent Lake in the morning, getting a GOOD cup of coffee, getting Truly Deluxe Service..... We are hard pressed to stay anywhere else now.

I doubt you'll be disappointed at all. In fact, you may be converted to a Swolphin Lover!

We tried staying at one of the DD resorts after many trips at Disney resorts, including the values. If you are used to Disney service, I'd say you just might be disappointed.

I tried to get the nurse rate at Swan/Dolphin and they said it was not available. When are you going?

You'll love it! Think of the fun things you can do with the savings. We have stayed at both S/D. This year we chose WL. It was nice, but I'm so excited that S/D has good rates because without discounts at WDW we'll be returning!

With those savings-I would do the same thing. We thought that Swan and Dolphin were beautiful resorts and would stay there. :)

Great choice, we love the Swan and Dolphin. Returning to the Dolphin next month.

We just returned from the swan a few weeks ago, and I doubted that i'd like it. We stayed at the GF at christmas, so I figured that it wouldn't compare. Boy was I wrong! The price was great, and the beds are called heavenly for a reason!

You can't go wrong with the Swan. I tried it for the first time last year and as you can see we're going back and I can't wait!!! I'm counting down the days already.
The quality of service is superb and those heavenly beds!!!!! After a long day it's nice to get into a comfortable bed and sleep.
Of course some of the usual Disney magic is not there but you make your own and boy do the staff at the Swan make up for it.
There's nothing like waking up every morning and opening the blinds to see Spaceship Earth!! At night we sat on the balcony and watched Illuminations.
I've stayed at alot of Disney resorts but never had views like this.
