Hey guys. I figured I want to go out with a BANG for the last day of my trip, so I booked a parasailing trip! It is at the Contemporary in the morning, and it sounds like fun.

Has anyone done this? Could I have some feedback? Thanks!! :goodvibes

My 10 year old son and I did it tandem last year (I am his mom) and we had a great time. It was a lot of fun. Just make sure it isn't too windy when you go because it can be a little topsy turvy if it is.

We had a nice calm breeze and every now and again we would get picked up or dropped by a gust of wind, but it was a lot of fun. Great views and it was peaceful and very quiet up there.

Have fun!

Did you get a good view of MK. That's not why I'm doing it, but I would really love to get that aerial view.

I did this two years ago and it was very nice. Much more peaceful of a ride up there than you would expect. However, it was a VERY difficult thing to schedule because they won't go unless the weather conditions are perfect. They cancelled the morning we were supposed to go, and then it was basically a check-and-see each day after that. We were worried about running out of days to go when finally one day the weather was calm enough to fly.
My advice? Book this for early in your trip in case you need to reschedule due to weather. You mention you booked for the last day, and you'll be out of luck if it's too breezy.
Have fun!

My dad did it and he said that it was really cool. He said he could see all of the park icons and some of the other resorts.

Cool for you!!! :thumbsup2 I would love to do it too! Where can I find info on cost, location, etc.? I would love to do this! We are at the Poly in October...

I agree that it's not so good becuase its at the end of the trip, but if it does get canceled I won't be super devastated, I'll just head over to MK!

Although I'm thinking about making it my first day...but I want to have something to look forward to...

Decisions, decisions... :)

My brother and I did it a few years ago (5 or so). We didn't have anything previously scheduled we just showed up. My parents got to ride in the boat and watch us. It was fun. Got great views. I'd like to do it again and take my digital camara up there but I don't think I would trust myself enough to not drop it.

I would also be scared to take it up there. If I'm on an observation deck on a tall building, I'll be scared to take a picture close to the edge. :goodvibes

we're signed up for the tandem, longer/higher ride
about $185 (plus tip)

it is expensive but its to celebrate "the year i turn 50"

DH and I did this in 2002 and had a blast! Not only did I have a fantastic view of the castle, I also saw a bald eagle flying....too cool. I don't remember how much it cost since we were on the deluxe plan, but I know it's pricey. My friend and I are going to WDW in Jan. 08' and we're thinking about parasailing, but I'm afraid it maybe too cold? Have fun, you're going to love it:)

can i wear eyeglasses as long as i have one of those sports bands?

I hope no one minds me askng but how much did you pay for your parasailing adventure?

The guy said it costs $95 for a 10 minute flight. I had to give them a Credit Card to hold the reservation.

I'm glad that a lot of people have done this before. It sounds great! :)

You can get one of those waterproof disposable cameras at a lot of the resort giftshops. I would recommend one of those to take pictures up there. The view is amazing. Just don't do what I did and get so excited that you leave the camera back on the boat!

I'm considering possibly doing this for my boys when we go back NEXT year. Thinking about using something like this as a reward for a great school year. They will be missing a week this year for our Disney trip and we want to keep their mind on the game after we return.

It looks fun!

My dh is parasailing at WDW next week. I hope that the weather cooperates!

He absolutely needs to wear his glasses or he won't see anything at all, so he'll be wearing a glasses strap to keep them on his face. He is thinking about bringing a water camera or a digital camera.

How smooth is the landing?

They allowed my DW to wear her sunglasses. The take-off and landing are very smooth. They reel you in with a motor all the way to the stern of the boat. Our feet never touched water.

Here are a couple of pics of DW & DS and me & DS parasailing in tandem to celebrate our 10th anniversary back in July of '05.
