This song always leaves tears in my eyes

I hope you never lose your sense of wonder
You get your fill to eat
But always keep that hunger
May you never take one single breath for granted
God forbid love ever leave you empty handed
I hope you still feel small
When you stand by the ocean
Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens
Promise me you'll give fate a fighting chance

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance
I hope you dance

I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance
Never settle for the path of least resistance
Living might mean taking chances
But they're worth taking
Lovin' might be a mistake
But it's worth making
Don't let some hell bent heart
Leave you bitter
When you come close to selling out
Reconsider
Give the heavens above
More than just a passing glance

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance
(Time is a real and constant motion always)
I hope you dance
(Rolling us along)
I hope you dance
(Tell me who)
I hope you dance
(Wants to look back on their youth and wonder)
(Where those years have gone)

I hope you still feel small
When you stand by the ocean
Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens
Promise me you'll give fate a fighting chance

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
Dance
I hope you dance
I hope you dance
(Time is a real and constant motion always)
I hope you dance
(Rolling us along)
I hope you dance
(Tell me who)
(Wants to look back on their youth and wonder)
I hope you dance
(Where those years have gone)

Tears here too. Actually, I have a story about that song...I was trying to make the decision of whether to move overseas or not, a biggy decision...we'd decided to do it, but I had such a heavy feeling...I was praying and driving and listening to the radio. Commercial came on so I hit 'seek'or 'search'or something. Anyway, it hit a station playing this song, right at the line "never settle for the path of least resistance." I took that as God on the radio and we moved. Its been great so far.

I love that song! It always reminds me of my friends.

Hi Rick!

I see you've been busy lately - I'll come over and say hi! :goodvibes

My friends and I used to be obsessed with that song! I haven't heard it lately, but that just brought a few memories back :)

I get goosebumps when I hear this song on the radio .. I love it.. A great tribute to any parent to their child..

That was in both my 8th grade and high school graduation slide shows. I cry everytime I hear it, because in both videos it's played while pictures are popping up with just awesome memories.

That was the song I danced with my son too at my wedding.

We used this song for our DD's senior page in her annual. It says it all!

I love that song. I also like "I Am Your Child" by Barry Manilow, because it speaks everything I want to say and sometimes can't to DS.

I am your child.
Wherever you go, you take me, too.
Whatever I know, I learn from you.
Whatever I do, you taught me to do.
I am your child.
And I am your chance.

Whatever will come, will come from me.
Tomorrow is won, by winning me.
Whatever I am, you taught me to be.
I am your hope,
I am your chance,
I am your child.

One of my favorite songs. DD used this as one of the songs played at her wedding.

Weird!!! I was just listening to this on the radio today and I copied down the name of it so I'd remember to look up the words to it. I also like the meaning of the song and like to think that I'll always choose to dance.

I'll have to say, it's my personality to always try things and not hold back. I hope that I'm always that way! I'd rather do things (I'm talking legal, LOL) and not like them than to regret not trying. It's something that children do so well and many adults seem to lose that skill.

Sorry I like the song lyrics and music but her voice is like nails on a chalkboard to me on that song.

I don't like country music at all, so I do have a problem with the song as far as that goes, but I like the words and the tune so can ignore the country twang.

Maybe im cold hearted or something, but that song does absolutely nothing for me. Not one emotion comes up at all. It could be though that im not an emotional person generally. But if I hear "Im Already There" by Lonestar, thats it.

You just have a different trigger, that's all. I don't know the "I'm Already There" song, at least not by title.

I completely agree!

It might be because I once heard a version of "I'm Already There" edited to include messages to loved ones fighting overseas. I was driving to the store and I actually had to pull into a parking lot and park until it was over because I started crying so hard :sad1:

I've looked for a copy of that version, but I've never been able to find it. I'm thinking maybe it was something special that radio station did? :confused3

Here are the lyrics:

He called her on the road
From a lonely cold hotel room
Just to hear her say I love you one more time
But when he heard the sound
Of the kids laughing in the background
He had to wipe away a tear from his eye
A little voice came on the phone
Said daddy when you coming home
He said the first thing that came to his mind

I’m already there
Take a look around
I’m the sunshine in your hair
I’m the shadow on the ground
I’m the whisper in the wind
I’m your imaginary friend
And I know I’m in your prayers
Oh I’m already there

She got back on the phone
Said I really miss you darling
Don’t worry about the kids they’ll be alright
Wish I was in your arms
Lying right there beside you
But I know that I’ll be in your dreams tonight
And I’ll gently kiss your lips
Touch you with my fingertips
So turn out the light and close your eyes

I’m already there
Don’t make a sound
I’m the beat in your heart
I’m the moonlight shining down
I’m the whisper in the wind
And I’ll be there until the end
Can you feel the love that we share
Oh I’m already there

We may be a thousand miles apart
But I’ll be with you wherever you are

I’m already there
Take a look around
I’m the sunshine in your hair
I’m the shadow on the ground
I’m the whisper in the wind
And I’ll be there until the end
Can you feel the love that we share
Oh I’m already there
Oh I’m alreadythere

My pastor, passed away a few years ago from ovarian cancer. She had that song played at her funeral. I cry every time I hear it.
