Well, I'm not singling anyone out because it has happened more than once, but I have noticed that my title has been shortened to PIT. Had I seriously thought this out I might have chosen a different name... but this is my vmk name so I didn't really think about it. And while I realize there are perfectly normal "pits" in the world like peach pits and what not, the first thing that comes to my mind when I hear pit is "arm pit"! I do not want to be an arm pit scrapper/swapper.

So would it be weird/rude to offer suggestions? I can answer to pretty, tink, Jen, Jenny, Jennifer, or anything you feel like calling me-heck I'll even answer to BOB!

But if you do choose to call me PIT, just remember, I'll be thinking arm pit, and maybe now you will too...:)

(And I really hope I don't offend anyone with this post!)

TIA~Jen, Jenny, Jennifer, tink, or Bob AKA PIT

I'm not offended at all, just :lmao: because I get shortened to TPS which irrationally makes me think of toilet paper squares (its left over from my high school days of papering houses when we used to compete with the drill team over the number of toilet paper squares used in one night - don't ask.)

Good for you for speaking up. I feel your pain!

I had never thought of it as pit since it was PIT.

Sorry you feel this way.

I will try not to do it if I ever address you.

My first thought when I saw PIT was the race car kind.

If I have done that, sorry. I don't think I have, but I have shortened a lot of screen names when writing a lot.

I really like "pretty in tink", but I do always think Molly Ringwald when I say it in my head. But I promise to never try to make you think of smelly peach or arm pits.

I think of Molly Ringwald too! Guess that is more along the lines of what you were shooting for... :)

yeah, it was a little disney play on pretty in pink :) funny how people think about it differently-race pit, etc.
I just can't tell my husband I've been called PIT on the dis boards-i'd never hear the end of it!

And like I said, I really wasn't trying to offend anyone, I just thought it was kind of funny. You all can really call me whatever you want :)

This is a fine thread...I think it's kind of funny - it took me a while to figure out who was who when there were abbreviations - but I get promoted to doctor because I often get MD!

If I may be so bold as to 'spin' this thread.....how did each of you come up with your disnames?

My hubby is misternascar so for Christmas a few years ago he got me a 'stocking stuffer' of a domain! So it was missesdisney (which I never did a website but use it for email) so that's my dis handle!

Mine is rather boring..

Kat --Short for Kathy
Disney -- cause I love Disney ;)

I want to get my liscence on my car to read "KATDZNY" I might do that after the tags expire

Mine is for my dog who owned me for almost 14 years. He had a personality that was bigger than life for those who knew him, and I was frequently called YodasMom by friends.

My license plates are DISNY followed by a number for my birth year. I pulled into the gas station a few months ago right next to someone who had the same plates with a number one less than mine!!

Mine is pretty easy to figure out, but I should have put my eldest's name first. I am really glad I didn't because I would WAM all the time. I would have batman visuals all the time with that. "WAM" "BAM" "KAPOW" :happytv:

To pretty in tink --- I feel your pain. My name is Susan, despite the fact that I introduce myself as such I still get Sue and I hate it. Good for you for correcting people.

As for how I got my disname -- this is the lamest one ever --I didn't feel like thinking, so I typed in 123 and then my initials, except I typed it wrong. A is for my maiden name, my married last name begins with a B.

Ah, that explains why when I see your real name on the labels, it doesn't jive that you are 123S"A".

Mine is from a character in a book that I like. I was having trouble coming up with a disney name that wasn't already taken and wasn't creative enough to think "outside the box". And I use the name in several other places so I knew I'd remember it.

And pretty in tink - I'm sure no one minds you speaking up about the abbreviation :thumbsup2

Sorry Pretty in Tink. I ALWAYS think pretty in pink when i see your name. I am one of those that uses the abbreviations things so if I've done it to you, so sorry.

I really wanted Johnsmom for mine but it was already taken, so I went with one of my favorite shows Party of 5, but made it 3, because it's just me, dh and ds. I kinda like it. But I also don't mind if people call me PO3, in fact I'm kinda used to it now. I know I call AlexWyattMommy AWM all the time, and Princess Nancy 96-PN96, and Buffy is BAMB, and so on..... so to those of you who don't like it, so sorry.

I must say, I love to hear how people get their screen names.

Too funny!

I think if I had known how much time I would come to spend on this board I would have chosen a different name. I registered LOOONG before I ever posted, and I thought it would just be a throwaway name. In my lurking that first day I saw a poster named NewEnglandDisney and I just totally copied that and added my favorite character instead. He (NED) ended up coming over to the scrapping boards years later - which was a little strange for me - it was like he was a celebrity!

Funny thing is - I have a customer who's last name is Nee. Whenever I see her, I think of all of you. Part of me always wants to tell her "You know that's my name too" but of course it would sound absolutely crazy to tell the story.

123SA - I'm Suzanne, and I can't stand it when people call me Sue. I always say, "It's a very nice name, but it's not my name."

:wave2: Bob

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:
Sorry my bad, I called you PIT, I kept typing Pretty in Pink but I will call Pretty from now on, how does that sound??? Or maybe I'll just call you Bob.....:rolleyes1

As for my username these are my 2 most favorite characters and my fave movie growing up. And FYI no Buffy is not my formal name, but my Brother never could say it so here I am.

Mine is from a character in a book that I like.

I have read the whole series -- all the pairs and trios of books she's written -- and I was pretty sure that was where your name came from! ;)

I was trying to think of a name, and I saw New England Eeyore. Living in Massachusetts I decided to "lift" part of it: "NE" for New England, and "disneyfans" is probably self-evident.

Alicia

I kept the screen name that I use all over the place. I got PatchChild in college, when desperately trying to find an IM name I liked that wasn't taken. Ok, so I'm a mom now and the child part might not fit, but I still can't think of myself as grown up so I won't be changing it any time soon.

I like how this thread is turning out. It's neat to hear about people's names. I've always wondered about some of them.

I would guess mine's pretty obvious. I found this site while researching for our Disney trip. We were staying at Fort Wilderness in our camper, and happycampers came to mind since we would be camping at the happiest place on earth.
