My BIL and SIL #2 called last night to find out why I haven't answered to the invitation for my older SIL's baby shower. How soon they forgot they told me last year I was not family when my dh's parents passed away, but funny how I was family when the inlaws needed to go to hospitals and doctor's appointments....I was good for that. So as of last year , I decided to write them off, they only call when they need or want something. So last night when SIL called , she asked if everyone was ok, I said yes, she asked if I received the invitation , I said yes, she asked if I was going, I said no, she asks why, I said I'm not family .
I don't think she expected that one.
What really gets on my nerves too is that this is the third baby SIL has, and for every single one of them she gets a baby shower? I thought that was only for the first baby.
Then she calls my husband and tells him what I said, dh tells her that as far as he was concerned, they were dead too.
Then dh's brother calls....screaming to the top of his lungs but that's nothing surprising because that's all he does everytime things don't go his way.
Do you think that maybe they will understand now that we want nothing to do with them?
Maybe I should change my phone number.....

I say good for you and I'm so glad your DH is with you on this. I should think they get the message this time. At least until they need something else

We tried to write off DH's sis and her husband after Thanksgiving, but MIL won't let it go. Keeps saying we have to like each other because we're family. What a bunch of doody.

That is such a hard decision to make, but, sometimes, it needs to be made. My life is mucher happier since I decided my father was no longer going to be a part of my life. I hope your inlaws get the idea now.

My mom always told me you get a shower for the first baby and that's it. We had showers for all 4 of ours, given by our church friends in Florida. It was very nice, believe me, but I kinda felt embarassed that the same people kept buying for me over and over again. I tried to talk them out of it but they would not listen! Sorry about your family situation, stay strong...
