For the first time in well over 10 years, we have no trips planned for FW. By this time of year, we in years past have had 8-10 trips planned. We are finding it harder and harder to get in to FW on planned trips, but I can remember days when on a whim we could just call and get a site for the weekend. I have seen how RVing has changed in the past five years. More and more people are experiencing the joy of RVing and that is why we can't just run to FW for the weekend. Last couple of trips to FW have been kind of sad for me, being a long time repeat customer to FW. Sometimes it is great to see things that do not change, but sometimes things have to change for the best. FW is starting to feel like the person that peaked in high school, and those are the glory days. They just keep reliving the past, and not looking toward the future, and have no plans to. During our past couple of trips we are finding it harder and harder to get our coach in and out of the sites without damage. Seeing all the changes taking place throughout the years, I am feeling like I have grown up, and FW has not.

Nope, not me. :confused3 I would live there if they let me. The Fort is the greatest and we can't wait to get home again. :cheer2:

Sorry, but we don't feel the same way. We still look forward to our stays at FW and feel that they have tried to update the campsites as it has deemed necessary. We're thrilled with the new addition of internet access in the preferred loops. We love FW SOOOOOOO much that when we are staying there during September and December on DVC points, we are also going to have our RV parked at FW so we can enjoy both!! It allows us to book a smaller DVC unit to access the perks of DVC, but all the benefits of home by having the RV with us.

Now that is true love!!

We, too, would live at the Fort if we could. We have nothing to compare to, as far as the way it used to be, because we have only been visiting there since 2000.

We have been camping at the Fort since June 1972. There have been some changes both good and bad. I do really wish they would do something about a themed pool. I am glad they have addressed the internet issue for people that want it. The thing is, the Fort is "home" and I really don't want to see too many changes. Familiarity is relaxing, welcoming, and for us, wanted.

My whole family agrees whole-heartedly. We met some people on a bus at the Fort last month who had some snowbirds camping next to them. They stay every year in the same spot for six months and then head back up north for the summer. :thumbsup2

Sometimes dream myself to sleep imagining I was there... will be in 106 days. Pinch me. Can't wait. pixiedust:

we used to go very often and many times on the spur of the moment, can't do it anymore, last trip we could not get a site and had to suffer at Pop Century, trying for March and not having any luck so far.......

We have been spending Feb. at the Fort for the last several years. This year we noticed that the parks seem to be showing their age. Last week two attractions we tried to enter were shut down for tech. problems, and so far this week three.
There seems to be real maint. issues.

Stillh2o- I do know how you feel, doing anything (even fun things) gets old when you seen to do the same place over and over, that"s frankly how I feel about the beach, it's fun, but been there done that feeling whenever we go... take a break from WDW, in about two years you'll be so excited to go back, it will feel fresh again. Try somewhere else this summer, if you can.

I think I know what you mean. It is harder to get in and more people are finding the best kept secret to Disney is the Fort!!! I was kinda feeling like you to so I took a year off. Know I"M BACK!! AND READY!! I have alway found there is a trick to geting a good reservation its usally different each time but this year I went ahead and set my dates and made my reservation all the was to December.. I've been going to the Fort since 1987 there have been alot of changes some are good some I could live without!! But all in all Fort Wilderness is very relaxing and more like and adventure!! I hope you get back with the program of staying at the best Place in Disney maybe you just need to take alittle time away.

I think everyone is right. I started geting this feeling last year 2005. We had plans to stay at FW for 5 nights over New Years, But when the time came to go we only stayed less than 24hs. In my family I started Camp Florida. We are planning to camp in every main state park in Florida over the next year. So for 1 Year we are given up the sites that we would take for 8-10 times this year for other to enjoy. I hope next years I will fell like I did in about FW.

Wow! I didn't realize there was internet access in the preferred loops now! That's fantastic! We just became members of the DVC in December so this coming December will be our first stay on DVC points. I'm so excited! We've only stayed in a preferred loop once before ( a few years ago) and I didn't know about the addition of internet access. I love finding out about a perk I didn't know about before. :Pinkbounc

Our family loves FW. Although it is getting harder and harder to get reservations there. I tried for 2 months to get reservations for Feb or March with no luck. I know spring break is just around the corner. My kids and I use to take quick weekend trips to the Fort. We are finding that with everyone realizing how great FW is that is getting harder to do. I don't enjoy the parks to much anymore, because we go so much. I just enjoy hanging out at the resort. I always tell DH " I am probably one of the few that gets their moneys worth out of the resort. I could stay at FW for 6 months easy!! It just is so relaxing.
