My husband turns 30 on January 28th and as a surprise I booked us a trip to WDW. I haven't told him but had him clear his schedule for other plans. I am going to pack the bags and have them waiting at the door on the 27th and when he gets home I'm just going to tell him it's time to go and then on the way to the airport I'll give him some little gift with Mickey on it and tell him where we're going.

He's never been to Disney and he knows I LOVE WDW!!! I couldn't decide between Vegas, Mexico or WDW. I tried to hint around and ask him about taking a trip in the fall and which he would prefer. He said WDW. But then the other night he was asking me about taking a trip in the fall and he said he would do WDW for me but that he'd rather do Mexico. Now I'm worried that he is going to think the trip is more for me than him. We don't have kids so any opinions on if you think a 30 year old man who's never been to WDW wil end up loving it???

In my opinion I don't see how anyone couldn't!!!!! But I realize my bias!

My husband went to WDW for the first time when we went for our honeymoon. He loves it. We have been 4 times in 8 years of marriage and we are going again in April. We have 3 kids and I wish I could do a surprise trip too. Have fun. He will love it.

Just think how much better it will be if he loves it there. Hope he does, good luck and have a great trip.

He will love the surprise. How long will you be there? Do you have anything special planned?

I would take him right to Epcot . that way he can visit Mexico and if the ride is not in rehab can see he's not missing anything.:lmao: I think those videos are from the 70's but he doesn't have to know that.

Other then that many people that have never been just think it's another theam park until they go.Then they relise what it truely is and really either love it or hate it but at least you will know at that time.

Our flight lands at like midnight on the 27th and we leave at 6:00 p.m. on the 31st. So we'll have a good 3 1/2 days to explore! I wanted to try and get in as much of the theme parks as possible but I think on his birthday (28th) I will make reservatsions at the Yachtsmen (sp?). I hear they have great prime rib and that's his favorite.

Any other good ideas for surprises?

LOL!!! That's a fabulous idea! That way he'll get to experience Mexico and WDW!!

As you fly tell him he is going to Mexico. And Canada, Italy, Germany, Norway, etc.

Heck I cant wait to go back this summer to get a couple more shot glasses from a few countries. Got America, Canada, and England last summer...lol.

He will love. I know if my wife did that I would love it. Then agian we really enjoy spending months talking and planning and remembering past trips.

I would recommend calling ahead to one of the resturants you are going to and have a cake waiting. My husband did this for my 30 birthday. I already reserved a meal at 50's Prime Time @ MGM. He knew about this and ordered a cake for me. It was a little cake and we ended up sharing it with people next to us. The waitress brought it out and the entire resturant joined in singing to me.

When we go in April my daughter will be turning 7. I have already called ahead and requested a cake when we have lunch in the castle. She will also have another cake on the cruise when we meet up with friends. Disney has premade cakes and you just have to call ahead to let them know.

If you haven't called ahead and made reservations I would recommend you do that so you don't have to wait as long to get seated. My birthday is in January too and it was still busy enough to need a reservation. If you are staying on property you can send a little gift ahead in the mail to your hotel and have it waiting for him in your room.

Have fun. My 30 birthday trip was a blast. I hope his is too.

Hi Loveshak...
I did this exact trip....a surprise trip to WDW for my husbands 30th bday in November of 2005.. I didnt tell him until we got to the airport where he was going...It was also a mickey themed item to let him know where he was going.. He thought we were going on a cruise somewhere or Mexico... He also was never at Disney World and I was a nervous wreck thinking I made the wrong choice... but.. IT WAS THE BEST THING I COULD HAVE DID.
He used to say that he never wanted to go to Disney World until we had a baby but i wanted him to enjoy it for himself before then... he is a huge disney fan now and loves planning trips w/ me.
I booked the hotel to CSR (mexico themed cause he thought thats where we were going) and I booked a ton of of restaurant themed ideas... he thought he was going on a cruise so I booked the Coral Reef...
It was great planning it and for my 30th birthday in Sept he did the same thing...
I love that he loves it as much as me.... well almost as much as me! :)

Im totally Jealous !

I think its a great idea. Don't think of it as a trip more for you but as a trip that you want to share something you love with the man you love. "Bringing him in to the fold" so to speak.

I hope you both have a great time

He is sure to love it. I would plan a little extra suprise while there if you can. The dinner and birthday cake are wonderful ideas. He will probally want to help you plan all future WDW trips. Have Fun!

i am a guy who hates suprises and have sworn i would kill my wife if she ever threw me a suprise party. I really dont get what is so great about suprises like that. I dont even like gifts that much.
but.....
all that being said, I think a suprise trip to Disney is an awesome gift.
I suprised my wife (she's the one who likes suprises) with a trip on our 10th anniversary. it was greatest thing i ever did. way better than a dumb gift.
I am sure you did all the research and will show him all the stuff that
makes it great to you. He is in for a great time,
and if its his first time, his most memorable i think.
Lucky Dog.

This 29 (almost 30) year old male went for his first time to WDW this year, and loved it. Before going, I really didn't much care if we went or not....now, i'm obsessed with the place, and all things Disney.

He'll love it. Guaranteed.

jeff.

The only flaw in your plan that I can see is you don't have enough days there!!! 3.5 days you don't even get a day at each park .
Add more days if you are able, so you can really enjoy yourselves

He will love it! My husband and I dated our way through the parks in 1993. Four children and 13 years later, we are still going once every other month.

i think your husband will love it me and my wife were there in sept for the first time and we are planning our next trip for this year i am not a man that gets emotional but when i walk into MK and was standing on main street looking down at the castle i had tears in my eyes i could not describe the feeling but it was like i was 5 years old so i am sure your husband is going to love it and love you more for surprising him way to go...:goofy:

Thanks everyone for your comments!! It makes me feel much more confident in my decision to hear everyone elses thoughts on the trip.

I love the idea of having a cake waiting at one of the restaurants. I will call this afternoon and make reservations and ask them for a cake. I also called the Wilderness Lodge where we are staying and they told me they would have a button for him that says it's his first time at WDW and then when we get into the MK at guest services they have "It's my Birthday" buttons. Hopefully all the characters will tease him!

Of course my husband doesn't like lots of attention so I may not be able to get him to wear the buttons...but I think the spirit of WDW will get to him and he'll be up for a fun time.

Thanks again!! I'll make sure and post an update when we get back!
