We were booked at the Poly Jan 1-6 with base tickets. Then the Disney visa discount came out and we felt like we couldn't pass up the savings so we changed to YC(no discount at Poly). We love staying on the monorail line and were really looking forward to the Poly. I guess I need to get excited about the YC now.

We also debated between BC & YC. We have 3 very well behaved kids and DH and I prefer a quieter hotel, that is why we chose YC.

Any comments you all could offer would be greatly appreciated.

YC is a beautiful hotel. I haven't stayed at Poly so I can't compare them, but YC really is wonderful. SAB is a great pool for the whole family and walking to Epcot is convenient and relaxing. The room decor is light and bright, which I prefer over darker themes.

YC is wonderful! You can walk to Epcot and MGM. There is also a boat that will take you there. We stayed at the BC concierge last DEC and it was wonderful. I really loved being able to walk to Epcot. There is also the wonderful pool, great places to eat( yachtsmen Steakhouse and beaches and cream).

:cheer2: Good for you! We have stayed at both and really prefer YC. I think you will also enjoy YC over BC if as you say you enjoy the more quiet atmosphere. My DD17 and DD13 observed that they would not have wanted to stay at BC, too many running, unsupervised little ones around. We also love the walk to Epcot, our favorite. Enjoy:flower3:

Ohhhh, just wait. Just wait to see what its like to walk to your room right after Illuminations, there is nothing like it. Wait to see that you can't pull your kids out of that beautiful pool because they're having so much fun. And that slide!!! Wow. And the beauty of this place, you'll be amazed every time you walk out on to the boardwalk. You're going to LOVE it.:thumbsup2 Oh, here's a little taste...

We have stayed at most of the deluxes but haven't made it to YC yet. Have a great trip and please let us know your impressions."earsboy:

We own at Beach Club and the Yacht club is beautiful, the pool is amazing, the walk to Epcot AND MGM is unbeatable, you will love it!

HAVE FUN

You will love YC. It is one of our favorite resorts. We were booked at the Poly January 10-15 for the marathon. No Visa discount during our time frame either so we switched over the the GF.

We love being able to walk over to EPCOT and if you are lucky and the weather is nice enough for swimming you just can't beat SAB! Make sure you try Beaches and Cream too.

I really don't think you'll be disappointed. It's a wonderful area! I think choosing YC over BC was a good choice for your family. At least this way, you'll know one way or the other which area you prefer for your next trip.

We love the YC too. Stayed at Poly once and while it was nice the family just didn't care for it as much as GF and YC. You're right about the peacefulness when compared to the frentic pace of the BC, YC is a whole lot more laid back. Plus, all rooms have full patios or balconies too. Also love the EPCOT location! We'll be there from Jan 2-6!

I have stayed at the BCV and the Poly. I would choose BC/YC over the Poly because of the POOL, walk to EPCOT, MGM, and Boardwalk. The only thing at the Poly is 'Ohana and Kona that would make me want to stay there. I guess the Monorail isn't so bad either.

You won't be disappointed! Yachtsman Steakhouse is really great plus you can also go to Beaches and Cream for a No Way Jose!

YC has a special place in my heart since that is where we honeymooned (2001). I think you'll really enjoy it - it has so much to offer. The pp is right - there is nothing like the stroll back to your room after Illuminations. SAB is wonderful, and having the walking distance convenience to two parks can't be beat. I can't wait until we can afford to stay there again. Have a great time!:flower3:

While we really love the POLY,we are trying the BC next Thanksgiving. And the fact that you were able to get a discount has to help! LOL From everything I have read about the YC/BC you will have a wonderful time! And they have such great restaurants there;and that awesome pool! Hope this helps and have fun planning!

We love this area. I have not stayed at the YC itself but I have stayed at the BCV and the BWV. The YC is beautiful and it is more peaceful than the BC. I love the nautical theme.
We just returned from a wonderful week at the BWV. We love being able to walk to the IG in Epcot. We get park hoppers and we end up most evenings in WS. We usually book ADR's at several of the WS restaurants while there for a week. The walk back "Home" after Illuminations is wonderful.
We also enjoy the walk to MGM. Being able to choose whether to walk or take the boat is really great.
As others have said, there are many great restaurants in this area. You have the restaurants of the YC and BC, The Swan and Dolphin if you are not on the DDP, and the Boardwalk. The Boardwalk is fun in the evening and there are entertainers along the boardwalk which is a lot of fun.
I loved the Poly when I stayed there last year and I would go back there, but the Epcot Resorts area is my favorite.
Have a Great Trip.

Wildcats, I'll be the lone voice and probably catch some flames. Also, I haven't yet stayed at the Poly - but want to. We're primarily WL fans.

We stayed at YC last summer because we got an awesome upsell rate, but after 3 days asked to be moved to WL. Though SAB is wonderful, it got really crowded and folks who perhaps had never seen a beach like to lay their chairs out on the sand bars. The quiet pool was lovely and right next to a huge laundry building, but I know it's being refurbished soon.

There is also no real food court, and though the BC marketplace has the best gelato in town, selection is limited. Hurricane Hannah's was a long walk to access, and when we were there, was chaotic and messy. It's a poolside snack place. We enjoyed Yachtsman the first night of our stay, but had better steaks that week at Le Cellier and Kona.

All that said, staff was professional and cordial, and the entire resort was beautiful, though somewhat spread out. I realize, too, that there are two factors influencing my perceptions - the hottest, driest August on record and the fact that I live in a seaside community.

As mentioned, we haven't yet enjoyed the Poly. Room size is bigger, you have great food selections and the monorail. Which parks will you be spending most of your time at?

Not trying to cast a damper - but since you asked...;) . You and your family will have a great time no matter where you stay - and I am definitely glad we got to be at YC so I can cross it off our family's list. It's lovely - just not for us.

Thanks for all the great information. I really appreciate it. I am getting really excited about it.

Melomouse, I am in the process of rearranging our park touring plans with the addition of the hopper. I think we will spend most of our time at EP,DS and MK. I love the idea of going to WS for dinner. I'll feel like a world traveler.

Thanks again, You all are awesome!

We love dinner in WS. Other than our traditional 'Ohana meal, we always try to dine in the EPCOT resort/WS area. Right now I have 'Ohana booked for two meals, trying to figure out our arrival time so we can change one dinner to Cape May for the clambake, another tradition of ours.

We have breakfast at Ohana on our last day. I'm trying to decide which WS/Epcot area TS to add. So many great choices. Half the fun is in the planning. Cape May clambake looks interesting.
