I heard a new phrase... Employee Vendor = benefit, and policy changes for work from home status...

I guess everyone has to choose for themselves what they can live with
Def. but I would still make a complaint personally speaking (your friend was always free to do whatever she felt was best) even if I could live with it. Sometimes it's not about what we personally have an issue with but rather what type of a company is. There's a lot that can fly in the business world without getting them in trouble or on a radar but it doesn't mean everything is.

The insurance company I worked for was sued by the DOL because they would make people start their computers up before their shifts since the computer programs would take a while to load. I'm sure in the 10 year time period that the lawsuit was for some people didn't see a problem with it either, I mean they were free to leave the company right? But it didn't mean it was a "right" policy to have. They were handing checks down to past and present employees for estimated back pay for the time they were doing work related things but not being paid and that lawsuit changed how they paid employees.

There's other stories too some that seem trivial on the surface but end up not (read about the guy who won with a birthday party thrown for him when he advised his company not to due to his anxiety).

If no one speaks up to unrealistic policies companies just get away with them, YMMV :)

People attempting to scam worker's comp is as old as worker's comp is; just because you ask for it does not mean you will get it, and more claims are denied than paid. However, you're kind of missing the point. Nowadays, a LOT of worker's comp claims are for things that have nothing to do with accidents, and instead are related to workload; there are a lot of claims filed for conditions like stress and repetitive motion injuries from operating a 10-key, and it doesn't matter what kind of desk that 10-key happens to be sitting on.
Shoot I didn't know I could claim WC for overwork-related stress/anxiety!!! Ding dang. Missed opportunity at my last job, then.

We've had people out for months on 'stress leave'.....
