DD and her friend are upstairs baking and listening to really AWFUL music. I don't know if it's Taking Back Sunday or Yellowcard or what (it all sounds the same to me - a phrase my parents liked to use on me).

A couple more minutes of this and I think I might be

I will never forget the first time I opened my mouth and Mom's voice came out.

The exact words were, "I don't care who started it, I'm ending it!"

I remember the day I turned into my parents. I used a phrase with my daughter that I swore I would never use.

That's why I never had kids...I have always been afraid of turning into my parents!

Good decision.::yes::

I don't even have kids, but I turned into my mom ages ago. I think when I was about 22 I started saying things like "I don't get teenagers these days" and "you call THIS music???"

*sigh*

what, you don't like that music..........

i totally love taking back sunday......................and i am not a teen.

I can remember my father listening to the news and talking about politics all the time. I hated it.

Now, I listen to the news and talk politics all the time.

When I told my DD not to yell for me from the other room, I knew my metamorphosis into Mom was complete.

My DH and I try to keep up on current music and I feel so old. I have never heard of either of those groups!

I have used the horrible- you just wait until your father comes home, and I would never speak to my mother this way...

I've also used "I don't care what xxx's mom says, you're not doing it." And DD is only 4!~

How about the "because I said so" or "if so and so jumped off a bridge, would you jump too?" Yes, I've turned into my parents!:D And proud of it!;)

Last year, on the way down to WDW, we were only about an hour into the drive (10 hour drive), kids were fighting & Dh said "I'll turn this car around right now & we'll go home". Scared the kids to death, I had tears running down my face trying not to laugh, I looked @ DH and he was trying to hold it together too.

"If you two don't stop someone is going to end up crying!"

That was the beginning.......I am now my father.........

I've recently noticed that the things I resented (okay, hated) most that my mom did when I was growing up and the VERY THINGS I do now. Ironic! ::yes::

OMG.. I am reliving my childhood in ONE THREAD!!!

I try to be a FAIR parent!!! TRY mind you!!!!

"If you want to go you have to WORK for it!"

That is fair right? :teeth:

Mom: Could you call your sister for me?
Me: JOANNE (standing next to mom while I yell)
Mom: If I wanted to yell, I would have called her!

(In other words, go get her ~ don't scream for her)

I say it all the time to my kids!

My mom's favorite expression was "Stay home and mind your business". I could never understand that when I was a kid. I wanted to go places and do things. Now, I find myself saying that to my DH and he laughs. The way people drive today and the way the world is, that phrase keeps coming to my lips. I understand now Mom!
