So I am planning my first trip to Disney.... been there before however I myself have not planned it.

I am going with my DBF... and sorta on a tight budget so I am trying to get the best deal possible. We are going for an event at the end of the month (bought his tickets as his holiday present this year). Planned everything from a few days at universal to most of the week at disney!

I keep calling and call hoping for a pin, or a ressie to open... and of course today I received a pin code that works in my dates (march 31-april1) however all the rooms are sold out :(. so much for being able to save money with a code. I did get a good room rate from AAA but wanted to switch up to a mod... oh well Disney will still be AWESOME!!

Anyway with all the planning I am driving my family NUTS!!! i think they might want me to go down to Disney and not come back after all of this (although I wouldn't mind being in disney forever).

Figured all of you would understand how much I am obsessing ....

Yep. Same here. My dd who has been to Disney twice in the last two years with other family members can talk Disney until you want to scream.
Today as I was talking about our ADR's for the millionth time she sighed and put her head down on the table muttering "six more months of this...."

You know you're a nut when you are driving an eleven year old crazy with Disney talk:laughing:
That's why we have this place. It's the only place where people 'get it'.
For what it's worth I think you are totally normal:upsidedow

I feel for you. This has become my obsession. WE haven't gone since 1990, and I KNOW that so much has changes. So since August I've been on the DIS constantly, learning a huge number of things.

But, hey, when our 40% PIN arrived, I knew enough to actually READ it and not toss it as junk mail. And I learned enough that both my sister and I were able to get our ADRs at 7 am on our 180 day mark-- no disappointments there. And I learned about personalized menus and divers at the Coral Reef (and passed all this info on to both my sister and my friend, to help them for their trips this summer.) I've found a list of height requirements so I'll know which rides my kids are likely to get on to, and which they probably won't. I found a great deal on fanny packs and on a baggalini bag for me.I leanred about pin trading and found a great site for pins, and ordered 25 of them for under $50.

This trip is a BIG DEAL for us. I'm determined to know all I can before I go.

Or, to quote the ad from Syms: "An educated consumer is our best customer!"

I do they same thing every time I plan a trip. I have over planned our trip according to DD & DH :lmao: Can you over plan a trip :confused3 I haven't planned anything but getting the most bang for my bucks. Now whenever I find a good deal I let my friends here know. These boards are awesome :thumbsup2 you can find out lots of interesting and helpful advise, no one thinks your obsessing. Going to HD and getting the LGMH and trying not to be seen was like a comedy show. All of this I could share here and my friends understood, I just tell my family the highlights of our up coming trip now :rolleyes1

I understand this totally!

We booked our trip (for me and DBF) back in Jan 2007! Since booking (and finding the DIS) I'm on here most days searching for new info to make our trip a little easier.

DBF's never been before and I can sometimes see the look on his face when I talk about things. He really doesn't understand what I'm saying too him and I sometimes get the impression that he thinks he can go by the pool each day (errrrr...not gonna happen :lmao: ).

I'm panicking myself at this stage that I've 'Disney-ed' him out and that by the time we get there in April, he really won't be interested at all. I'll feel it's all my fault for talking about it too much.

It's horrible knowing I've been before and must be awful for DBF when I go on about things, but at the end of the day I'm only doing all this to make sure our trip is as enjoyable as possible. I just hope he understands that once we get there. In the same light, I just hope your BF understands why you're planning so much also. Lots of pixie dust to you in hope that your family will let you return also after your trip  ....or maybe I shouldn't pixie dust you and you can just stay there :rotfl2:

A good plan = a great time at WDW:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes :thumbsup2 :) :goodvibes :goodvibes Danny

My DW accuses me of "obsessing" also ... toooo baaaad!!! :) :rotfl2:

Because I know all the planning will pay off with a great trip!!

I was like this when we were planning our May 2007 trip - and it worked out great!!

My brother, his DW and DD - who live in Florida and go to WDW quite a bit - were amazed at the stuff I was showing them ... So planning and a little knowledge go a LONG way!! :3dglasses

I know how you feel. My DBF, who is going also, wants me to shut up and doesn't understand all the planning and excitement- no one does.

But a successful WDW vacation = lots of good planning.

And the killer is:

When we get to WDW and have our ADRs, when the walk-ins are turned away,

When we have the room we want at the resort we want and we have some sort of discount (AAA, PIN, something...)

When we have the fanny pack or the baggalini or whatever,

When our kids get all the autographs they want and already have an autorgraph book and a sharpie,

When the kids have a bunch of $2 pins for trading and aren't pressuring daddy to buy them some $12 ones,

When dinner at the Coral Reef includes personalized menus, or you actually have breakfast in Cinderella's Castle,

Guess who is going to assume that this is just how thing work at Disney????

 I'm going to make my DH read this!!! He keeps saying I'm going to ruin the "surprise" of my vacation. He doesn't understand that if we are only doing this once (at least until the kids are older) I don't want them to miss out on anything. He also just doesn't get that you have to book & plan months in advance. We booked our rooms a couple of weeks ago and just barely got into Poly!!
