I find the opposite: THe media isn't talking about it enough. I had to look on CDC site to find out over 900 people died in Sept alone from h1n1.

I disagree. Can you show one year in history that we have had over 1500 deaths from the flu before Oct.1? There were over 900 deaths in the US just last week. Approx. 40% of these deaths were previousely healthy people. This is NOT similar to the regular flu.

Unfortunately, this year is in no way even close to a normal flu season. As you can see, from the CDC website, there are not usually many pediatric flu deaths.

Now you can see childrens deaths as of 9/29. Keep in mind the regular flu season has not even started yet. I do not post this to scare people, but I really feel like we all need to stay informed. If we don't know what is happening we cannot make educated decisions for our families.

Remember that every year, 50-100 children die of "regular" seasonal flu.

It's no less tragic, but just more newsworthy to report it because it's H1N1 (or presumed to be).

◦The proportion of outpatient visits for influenza-like illness (ILI) was above the national baseline. Regions 2 through10 reported ILI above region-specific baseline levels; only Region 1 was below its’ region-specific baseline.

◦Twenty-six states reported geographically widespread influenza activity, 11 states reported regional influenza activity, 12 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico reported local influenza activity, one state and Guam reported sporadic influenza activity, and the U.S. Virgin Islands did not report.

◦The 2009-10 influenza season officially begins October 4, 2009
