I have to cancel under 30 days. Question?

So I have to cancel my vero trip that is scheduled for July 28th. This is first time I canceled like this.
So my understanding is the points go into holding that have to be used by Jan 31. My use year is February. Is that correct?

Also do they ever make exceptions for this maybe to allow me to use points next summer? I had 2 surgeries this may/June and my surgeon thinks bad idea for me to go as I have drainage bags til august. Sucks lol. thanks.

Sorry to hear that the trip can’t happen and I wish you a quick recovery.

Correct on using points by Jan 31. You can only book 60 days out with points in holding.

I suppose you can try asking MS if they can extend the expiration date.

Member services may grant you a one time exception (usually for deaths, medical reasons) if you explain your circumstances, if it's for a lot of points I'd consider using that one time exception, if it's only for like 2 nights it may be worth it to just let the points go into holding.

Give MS a call….they may allow the penalty to be waived. If they do, and they are your current 2024 points, you could then bank and use next summer,

Any banked 2023 points, if you have them, would still expire end of January.
