I cant believe it . I started gettting sick on Thanksgiving day and now it is TUES and I a IN THE BED with the FLU and I leave on 12/6 for WDW. I gotta get over this soon or I am making the trip with a Surgeons mask on :-)

I hope the meds I am taking start working!

I can relate - we leave Sunday. DS (who in his nearly 3 yrs. has only been sick twice) spiked a 103 temp last night, and I've been feeling "fluish" since the weekend - I'm just waiting for it to hit for real!

:grouphug: hugs all around to everyone!! Hope you are feeling better very soon! Have a good (and healthy) trip to Disney!

Hi
Not to play the trump card or anything but...we are leaving on Sunday December 5 for our "We planned all year for this two week Florida vacation" and we may as well hang a quarantine sign on our front door. We are all sick. That is me, DH, DD12, DD10 and the little twins. I took my 3 yr old twins to the doctor today just to make sure they did not have ear infections. My doctor gave me a prescription for antibiotics and ear drops in case of emergency so I will fill them and take them with us. She also gave us some tips for the plane. Suggested getting the kids to drink through juice boxes during take off. Apparently this suck suck swallow method is better than gum for relieving pressure in the ears. But we have until Sunday to get better so I am prescribing lots of rest and relaxation before the trip. So I am just hoping for the best and hoping everyone gets well soon.
Hope everyone on your end gets well soon too!!!

DisLuv and Hellooothere,

I am sorry to hear that both of you as well as your family Hellooothere are sick. If it makes you feel any better, and I hope it does, literally, I just said a prayer for both of you that you get to feeling better so that you can enjoy  your vacation.

OMG!!!! This is my worst nightmare. I am sending HUGE amounts of prayers and pixie dust to all who are under the weather. Good Luck to all.

I am a worship leader at a baptist church as well as being a school teacher. My pastor called last night and let me know the prayer chain was praying for me. I also had the Fellowship of Christian Athletes at my school (I AM FCA SPONSOR) call and tell me that they are also praying for me. I have been away from school since Monday so I have got to get back to school so I can prepare to leave again :-)

My heart goes out to you Disluv, what a nightmare! It won't help your situation now, because it's too late for you to start taking it, but if you ever find that you have the flu, go and see your doctor within 48 hours of onset of the symptoms and ask for Tamiflu. Has to be within 48 hours of the onset of the flu or it does no good.

Tamiflu won't stop the flu, but it will greatly cut back on its severity and duration. My mother used it and she was back on her feet in about a week.

There's another drug called Relenza, which I used about 4 years ago, and that works well too. But it has to be inhaled into the lungs, whereas Tamiflu is a pill.

Get well soon! :flower1:

So sorry to hear about your flu- maybe you will be better by Monday. I think we have a stomach bug in our house. I was sick Sat. night- but I thought it was something I ate. Well, DS3 got up at 4:30 this morning sick. He seems to be some better now- let's hope it is anyway. So, now I am just waiting on everyone else in the house to get it. If they are- I wish they would go ahead and get it!!! We leave Sunday. Oh well.....
I am also a teacher and understand what you mean about getting ready to leave. I've been working for 3 days now getting plans ready for my sub. next week. Oh, I hope you get back to yourself soon so you can have plans ready and leave without worrying about your plans!!!!

DH and I are both sick too...and we leave on Saturday! We are both headed to the doctor today and hope we will get a shot to get us better quick! :flower1:

I woke up this morning with a sore throat, sinus pressure and a cough.....I'm taking cough medicine, cough drops and these new candy like drops from Halls...they are 100% Vitamin C and taste like orange juice....living on those.

Hoping we all get doused with Pixie Dust as we enter WDW! At least my son is feeling okay. Now I just have to get through my work day without spending all my time either on these boards or blowing my nose. :earseek:

Whenever I feel like I am getting the flu or sometimes when I even already have the flu I take echinacea...I know med journals and doctors have said it doesn't work but I feel much better much more quickly when I take it. I also take mercurius vivus for a sore throat as does my mother and we both noticed that our throat clear up much faster. . .you may want tocheck with your doctors about sharing these meds with kids - there are no known side effects but just to be safe. . .
Here's a group hug for all who are leaving for WDW soon - hope you all feel better very soon!!! :grouphug:

I hope you are all feeling better soon. I had cataract surgery last week and I am still recovering. My eyes were really bad to start with and the Dr did my strongest one but now I am suffering from headaches trying to get my bad left eye and my better right eye to work together. I have these huge sunglass shields that I am wearing...so next week if you see me walking down Main Street, come say HI.

I am hoping everyone is well by their trip. Last Monday, not 2 days ago Monday, I was at work and started having a sneezing attack. I am just now getting over whatever it is. Now DW started getting sick last Friday and we leave Saturday. She is going to the Doctors today. If she gets a shot of antibiotics I will get one too today. Lets all hope everyone is a ok.

Oh man, I can sympathize. Our first trip, and as newbies we didn't believe we would ever get back again, had been planned for two years when DH gets a 102 fever, chills, and vomiting three days before our departure. (I told him if I had to get an IV and a wheelchair, for any or all of us, we were going!) I kept waiting each of those three days to start feeling ill, since it seemed to be viral. DD got it after DH and got over it the day of our trip; DS threw up once the night of our arrival and was OK by morning. I, who always catch everything and seem to get it worse than everybody else, never felt sick at all. Our first Disney miracle! Sending some pixie dust to the sickies for their own Disney healing! :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

I too have the flu and I leave saturday!!! I am just grateful I got it before and not while I was there!!

Don't forget decongestants several hours before flight time also.

For something heavy like the flu, just chewing or sucking may not be sufficient.

My suggestions: In case of nausea, fast for at least a day. In case of vomiting, fast for at least a day after. Good reasons not to buy Disney meal plans.
