I gave my own self a black eye, just a small one. If one of my kids had done this I would have explained to them how a thought-less act could have serious consequences and I would have been right.
I was grilling some ribs yesterday. We have a cast iron grill with really heavy doors. I ran out to turn them and realized I had forgotten my hot pad. Smarty me decided to use my meat fork to raise the lid. I got it almost up when my fork slipped loose and I hit myself in the eyelid with the tines. Ouch! Today I am the embarrassed owner of a blacken eyelid. Could have been much worse.

Oh my! :rotfl:

I'm glad you are okay and still in possession of two working eyes. ;)

LOL. I gave myself a black eye last year. I was trying out for color guard and I didn't have a flag, so the genious I am took a broom and tried practicing with that. I was doing pole hits and unless you know what they are, this story probably won't be funny to you, but its hilarious to anybody that knows what they are. Basically, you let go fo the flag and it stays right in front of you, but spins 360 degrees. So you start with the flag down and you flip it so that it spins counter-clockwise and you catch it with the flag down again. It is not supposed to go up in the air or anything, it stays right at belly button level. So I tried my first one and my make shift flag went into the air and landed behind me. The second time it went up in the air and landed about 10 feet to the right of me. The third time, it went straight up in the air and I went to catch it, but I grabbed too late and wondering where it was, I looked up. Down it came hitting me in the eye. The next day, all my friends, who all happen to be in color guard too, asked me what happened. I was so embarassed by the story and they still won't let me live it down over a year later.
