Last time i was at universal was about 20 years ago. We are planning a trip in december and there is 10 of us. So we arent sure if we are def. going to want to go to universal for a day or not but we are leaning that way. Is it easier to buy tickets a head of time or would it be just as easy to buy them when we get there? We have a three year old is there enough for him to do? Are there alot of shows? my mom doesnt do rides so she would need to keep busy. And should we def do islands of adventure or is universal good enough? Sorry about all the questions. I know alot about disney an nothing about universal. Thanks

I think if you buy them ahead of time you get a small discount so it is probably the best way to go. At Universal the 3 year old could do things like Twister, Disaster, Jaws, T2 ish for rides. There is also a little water area that the 3 year old would enjoy as well as a playground. There are shows... one is Barney might be fun for the 3 year old.

If you have only 1 day I would probably say just go with only Universal but IOA has some great stuff too.

For shows at Universal there is Beetlejuice, T2, Shrek could be considered a show more then ride just seats move, Horror Make-up show, Twister. IOA also has 2 shows but I have not seen them so not sure how good they are but its Poseidons Fury and Sinbad.

I might be missing some but if you can afford to go to Universal it would be great for family they also have Express passes to help you get everything done in a day if its the only time you have.

Also I am not sure when you are going but at IOA they have the grinch play and they decorate Seussland with some decorations. Since you are going with 10 if they are thrillseekers you might want to get the 2 park pass and some go to Universal others to IOA and it would add another playground for the 3 year old to play one.

i suggest you start with the stickies and you will learn a lot more about the parks.

Hi! Having just returned from UO (and Disney) with a 4 year old and a 9mth old - I can tell you that IOA was our favourite of all the parks!!!

Much to our surprise, but DS4 absolutely loved Seuss' Landing and we could have stayed there all day!! I think you said your mom doesn't do the rides - so she could perhaps hang out at Seuss' Landing with the little one whilst everyone else did the 'exciting stuff'

For me, the theming of IOA is fantastic and I could easily spend the day wandering around looking at the sights without really needing to go on many rides!!

One thing I would recommend if you decide to do IOA - Get the Dr Seuss books for your DD and read them to her before you go - I think my DS really benefited from this as he then knew cat in the hat etc before we got there!!

oops sorry - I just re-read your post and saw that you have a 3 year old son not a daughter - sorry!!

Well in that case - If he likes Spiderman I also whole heartedly recommend the Spidey breakfast at IOA - the BEST character interaction anywhere!!!
