I have NEVER tried...

I thought of something more "normal" that I've never had. Energy Drinks. Red Bull, etc. Never tried any of them. Have no clue what they might taste like. :confused3 I'm so totally addicted to Diet Coke, I've never had a desire to become addicted to anything else!

Have never tried and hope not to: chitterlings better know as "chitlins" in my neck of the woods. Just the idea of them makes me shudder.:crazy2:

I haven't and won't try chitterlings! My grandmother tried and tried to get me to eat them. And I grew up not far from the Chitlin Strut! :scared1:

I also don't like grits, and I was born and raised in the South.

Now back to reading this thread - it's eye opening! :surfweb:

Just the smell of chitterlings cooking is enough to never try them!

I think that is one of the few things I have never tried and don't think I ever will.

Zehnder's or Bavarian Inn Chicken--don't forget the mashed potatoes, homemade noodles, squash, chicken noodle soup, coleslaw, homemade rolls, etc.--it is a huge meal, but the chicken is terrific.

I would also give a shout out to the chicken from Wooden Shoe Inn (right up there with that from Frankenmuth) in Minster, Ohio! You haven't lived until you've done a dinner at Zehnder's or Bavarian (both owned by the same family, just different branches). Great old family style dinner and as much as you care to eat.

Now, as to things I've never tried--most have been mentioned by someone else and sadly, I have tried them. I have never eaten calamari--odd since I :lovestruc oysters, sushi, and all types of seafood/shellfish. I'll get around to it some day. ;)

Tried almost everything mentioned.

Caviar is delicious if it's good caviar-ex.Beluga. It's not the stuff on the grocery store shelves.

LOVE hot apple cider.

Grits are the best thing God ever invented.

Scrapple is one thing that I've never tried and never will try.

I'll agree with the no chitterlings!

But you really should try my Crawfish Fettucini and hot, crispy fried catfish with some fresh hush puppies. They might just change your mind if you didn't like them before.

Sounds good, when are you cooking? :rolleyes1 Of course, I already like the dishes, but I'd be willing to taste test your versions!

This thread has me hungry for some catfish so maybe tonight!

The crawfish fettucini probably Thanksgiving. It goes well with a big ole baked ham, a sweet potato casserole with chopped pecans on top, and a taco salad. Wash it all down with gallons of sweet tea and follow it up with chocolate chip / chocolate pound cake and pecan and lemon pies.

I haven't had sushi, sweetbreads, scrapple :scared1: , crawfish, Rocky Mountain oysters.

Love catfish though and calamari if it isn't over cooked. I don't like duck, goose, quail, elk, or venison. I do like bison though.

I haven't had a lot of the stufff mentioned, but I think most people don't eat head cheese anyway. LOL

Normal things I have never eaten: mushrooms.
I just can;t bring myself to try one, I've had one on my fork, ready to try it..but I just can't bring myself to put it in my mouth, they are just so..gray.

Coffee-I LOVE the smell and once every couple of years I'll try some in the hopes that I may have acquired a taste for it, but it's still gross.
I did have a white chocolate mocha from Starbucks last month-I was so proud of myself that I got a coffee-type drink. LOL

My Mom, her sisters and friends make hog's head cheese. BARF!!! That is nasty looking stuff when it's being made. My husband and sons love it. IF they take it out of the fridge, I have to leave the room.

They also eat blood sausage-repeat BARF.

Now my stomach feels funny:sick:.( I used to think the sick smilie was a Scotsman smoking a pipe while wearing a tam.)

Eeew.
Why did I have this idea that scrapple was made from apples? That just sounds..disgusting. Bleh.

Egg nog...I am not an egg fan and it looks gross. :scared:
Sushi
Oysters
Mussels
Shrimp
Scallops
(My mom was allergic to seafood, and I've been a vegetarian my whole adult life so I've never had any)
Another who hasn't had fruitcake :scared:

I haven't had any of these things, except sweetbread...I don't know what you mean by that one. I have had sweet breads.

Oh yeah...makes me wish we could afford to go there right NOW just for some of that chicken. That's good stuff right there. The last time we went to Michigan, we had dinner at The Bavarian Inn and they had some kind of bread on the table that was really odd, but good. It was like.. a dessert bread. IIRC, it was white bread, but had pieces of candied fruit inside it. OMG..nomnomnom.

DH is talking about ordering some fudge from the Frankenmuth Fudge Shoppe for Christmas because we both LOVE that stuff. I could eat a pound slab BY MYSELF, if he would let me.:rotfl:
