Ok I realized in my other thread that there is stuff I am missing out on even though I have an ap.

We just usually go ride a few rides then leave. I have never really taken the time to walk around and just look.

So what do you do at DL or DCA that you don't think others really know about?

Like the wine place at DCA, I don't even know the name, what do you do there?

Here is a partial list that I have gleaned from all the great people here on the Dis…. Please forgive me if anything is wrong as I have not been for a few years.

DINSEYLAND

People watching from the porch on Main. St.

Listening to the party lines at the Market House is a kick.

You can also snack at the tables next to it and listen in at the dentist's office.
Take time to REALLY look at all the windows and LISTEN closely as you go down Main St. If the rocking chairs on the front porch of the house halfway down on the right side (as you go toward the castle) are vacant, go sit for a while and watch people.
---------------

Co-pilot the Mark Twain. Walking the decks of the Mark Twain at night. ( non-fantasmic nights)

Actually seeing all the stuff below decks on the Columbia.
---------------
Wicked Queen in the window above Snow White's Adventure ride.

Just as you enter the line to Snow White there is a brass apple, try to pick it up.
---------------
Watching the Cheshire Cat appear and disappear in the mirror of THE MAD HATTER hat shop (next to tea cups, in Fantasyland).
---------------
In Fantasyland - go into the Villain shop and turn the key of the cage that holds the witch.
---------------
Small World: Over in Disneyland's ride, on the Eiffel Tower, you'll see a doll which is a tribute to the original World's Fair attraction's doll designer, Imagineer Mary Blair. Cool, huh?
---------------
love standing by the wishing well on the side of the castle and listening to Snow White sing, and her echo in the well.
----------------
Disney Gallery up above Pirates of the Caribbean. Make sure you go out on the back patio, too.
---------------
Free map of Jungle Cruise if you ask Skipper at end of ride
---------------
You can ask for a "Marabic Translation Card" for Indy...
I do not know if they always have them, but I have read that you can ask a CM at the shop in the area that is themed for the ride...
---------------
In the queuing line for Indiana Jones, deep inside, in the middle of all of the bamboo poles, there is one that looks a little crooked. Pull on it hard

It's a well, not a rock. It's in the room right before the one with the safety video. There are 3 sets of sayings.
---------------
On the Winnie the Pooh ride at Disneyland, if you turn around after you pass the scene where Pooh is pigging out on honey, you can see 3 animals that were from the Country Bear Jamboree (a tribute).
---------------
The popcorn machines. There are popcorn machines all over the place. Look at the little guy that is turning the wheel for the popcorn, he is different in every land!
---------------
New Orleans Square - at different times during the day they throw mardi gras beads to the guests - sometimes from the balcony, and sometimes the band members do it.
Wander around New Orleans Square, or sit on a bench there and watch people.
At NOS and listening to the nightclub sound loop.
---------------
Go to see Billy Hill and the Hillbillies at the Golden Horseshoe Saloon.
---------------
Astro Orbiter - When you look at the tail fins of the 12 rockets, notice that each has a different sign of the zodiac.
---------------
"Talk to Stitch" exhibit
---------------
Go to the VMK area in Tomorrow land, they will give you "quests" where you have to answer questions about DL. If you do not know the answer, you have to go look.
---------------
When in Toontown, try to open the door by the Electric company and see what happens.
---------------
Mickey's House- When you enter Mickey's house, the first room contains a passport with stamps from everywhere a Disneyland is located.
---------------
You can ride up front with the driver on the monorail (limited to 5 ppl, I think);

Ok, here's a few:

Ask to ride in the nose cone of the Monorail

Ask to pilot the Mark Twain Riverboat (although I have been told this may be suspended during the YOMD)

Ask the CM at the end of the Jungle Cruise for a special souvenir map. (yep, they're free!)

Spend time in the Disney Gallery

Spend time in the Animation Studio in DCA

Get to the esplanade 45 min to an hour before the park opens so I can be the first person walking down Main Street USA.

Watch Kirk Wall perform with Billy Hill and the Hillbillies. :cloud9:

Go during Christmas and just breathe in all the magic and splendor. :santa:

EDITED: WOW, AJA beat me to it and gave a much more comprehensive list -- some things I never even knew about! Thank you!

Thanks Dangermouse....learned from the best....like you....I have more lists but I have to go talk to a guy about a new roof... later

During Christmas, find out when they make candy canes and watch them make them. They only make so many and just for a short time. Then if you want to buy one, you have to make sure you get in line right away.

Were would I find the Talk with Stitch attraction? Thanks

ETA: You can ask for a Tender ride on some of the trains. This is a seat behind the engineers. You may have to wait through a couple trains, but it is so worth it.

Wow these are awesome suggestions. I am actually printing them out and keeping them in my purse. I just love going to DL and being surrounded by the atmosphere. I am going to become a little more adventerous from now on.:) :thumbsup2

If you have kids, you can have them play musical chairs with Alice and the Mad Hatter at Plaza Pavillion. My kids got to do this for the first time yesterday, and it was so much fun. Unfortunately it was just Alice this time. I guess the Mad Hatter had a prior engagement. lol But my kids still had a blast. They do it at 2:30 each day. :goodvibes

Haha I was there yesterday. That Alice handled the crying kids so well.
Oh and during musical chairs, there are almost always more characters than just Alice and the Mad Hatter. I have seen Peter, Wendy, Bert, Mary, the Evil Queen from Snow White, and a lot more.
Also, if you want to see any particular character, ask the information booth at the end of main street and they will tell you the times that that certain character is going to be out that day.

Yes, Alice did do a good job! I think it's great how the CM's can stay in character no matter what happens.

My son was the one that told the joke about the chicken crossing the road to get to the duck. lol

Thanks for the info. :) My kids were disappointed that Peter Pan wasn't there.

Hi, just chiming in here ;)

Sorry, stupid question alert ... but where/what is the Plaza Pavilion? Is it the same as the Plaza Inn restaurant?

If it's a restaurant, do you have to be eating there to do the musical chairs with Alice thing? Sounds like a good way to meet some characters!

Thanks :)

It's at the very end of main street. Near Adventureland. Sometimes they play musical chairs at the coke corner which is also at the end of main street. The Plaza Pavilion is right next to the coke corner. It is also where the Junior Chef is held.
And anyone can come watch them/play the game. Just walk up to the piano where the game is.

I love taking my time and walking through all the shops on Main Street. I love getting a pineapple whip and sitting in The Tiki Room for the hundrenth time. I like walking through the castle and hearing "When you Wish Upon a Star" playing. Sometimes it's fun to take the train all the way around and not get off. :) My favorite area is New Orleans Square...I love the shops, the food and the sounds.
